  1. I keep waiting for them to come back down to earth. Lets worry about the Brewers tonight and the Cards on Friday. Personally, Im more worried about the Cubs than either.
  2. Holy Hell, what's gotten into the Pirates? They're smoking the Mets 13-1 with 0 HRs. Sorry, theres no other games thread.
  3. They can be. The problem is, when middle relievers get good enough, they become set up men and closers, creating the need for more garbage to fill the middle relief spots.
  4. I would think Brewers fans are saying the same thing about Dempster. They're too busy mozzerella sticking their way to an early grave. Strangely enough, outside of Milwaukee and Green Bay, I have found the people of the state of Wisconsin to be in exceptionally good shape in spite of all the beer drinking and cheese eating. They're just outside doing stuff a lot. This still surprises me even after going to college in Wisconsin for 4 years. I agree for the most part, but off the beaten path it's a very different story I went to UW Oshkosh, and before that a small liberal arts college outside of Sheboygan, and while for the most part, the college people were in pretty decent shape, your average townie looked like they could drop dead at any moment.
  5. There's no need for that language. According to the Trib, Cuban will be in attendance tonight: Dont you mean theres no N for this L?
  6. It seems a lot of guys have put on some pounds. Johnny Estrada and Prince Fielder look like they each put on 100.
  7. Cubs are 10,001-0 in games where they score more runs than the opposition.
  8. After his red hot Spring, I was expecting a lot more out of him, especially for a guy who was expected to hit 40 HR a year when he came into the league. I still remember when they were walking him to get to Soriano at time last year. We need that fat man back.
  9. I would think Brewers fans are saying the same thing about Dempster. They're too busy mozzerella sticking their way to an early grave.
  10. The fact is, middle relief is a big problem for pretty much every team. Thats why a good middle reliever is so hard to come buy, and solid production from the likes of Howry, Wuertz, and Eyre when he comes back is so important to this team. We may have the best set man-closer combo in the NL right now, but if we cant get the ball to them when it counts, it really doesnt matter. I say we work out a trade for Mike MacDougal with the White Sox. Hes never been in the NL before, and hes in AAA, so he should be obtainable.
  11. How about Mike MacDougal? I know, hes had his ups and downs, but hes never piched in the NL, aside from interleague play, and maybe he could give us a solid season. Seeing as hes in AAA as we speak, I doubt the Sox would demand too much for him.
  12. I remember last summer there was talk of sending a prospect package including Pie to KC for Greinke. Were there ever any serious discussions with The Royals, or was it just rumors? I know hes pretty much untouchable now, but that would have been huge.
  13. You know what they say, the 10,002nd wins always the hardest.
  14. Id be more sold on taking 1 from the Brewers and sweeping the Cards. We seem to be at our best vs. them. Unless of course Cesar Izturis chooses to go buck wild on us.
  15. Over/under on Little Lord Fotenot's pessimistic in-game comments for tomorrow night: 500 sound about right? Dempsters pitching, so if the team comes to play, your safe with the under. The minute you see Wuertz buck toothed face though, you may want to make a quick change.
  16. The plan was to get to Sheets and get him out early, which we did. Unfortunately, the performances of Marquis, Hart, and Wuertz werent part of that plan.
  17. Hopefully Sorianos return gos as well as Camerons did. Probably not though.
  18. I suppose 3rd place wont be so bad. I really hate this team.
  19. Cant rally blame Ward. He wanted to make sure he beat Gagne and Fielder to the feeding trough.
  20. If DeRo and Soto can get on, hopefully the fat man can come through for us. If not, as the Nationals and Rockies were before them, The Brewers were just the better team.
  21. Cubs and White Sox neck and neck in the race to see who can hit rock bottom first.
  22. I think they're going to have to condition Marmol to pitch 3 innings a game.
