  1. And Soriano? Seriously, people. Listen, I'm the biggest Soriano hater. I was the leader of the anti-sorianos in the thread on his signing, but to want to bench him or "get him off this team" is just ridiculous. People have become so reactionary here its unbelievable. Soriano is the team's best option in LF. he's not playing as well as theriot or cedeno, though, so he should ride the pine for a while. I don't sense any sarcasm here, but there just has to be some. It was actually pure sarcasm. I know Soriano is stinking up the joint, but when he heats up, and he will, this will once again become the Soriano Love Palace it was last June.
  2. True, but no teams are trading right now, unless the Brewers are willing to grossly overpay. Corey Hart for Jason Marquis. final offer.
  3. Neal Cotts must have really done something to piss someone off. I mean besides pitch horribly.
  4. Once Sheets breaks down once and for all, the Brewers are done for.
  5. I dont know, I kind of like stacking up on bad losses. I want to see more of Bob Howry and Mike Wuertz. and can we start Jason Marquis every 3rd day?
  6. Cubs should grab Turnbow and keep in the minors until we play the Brewers again. Often, players that have been unceremoniously dumped like that unload on their former team.
  7. Cedeno as SS Theriot at 2B DeRosa at LF
  8. Cedeno is still a better fielder and has more power, no matter how good Theriot may look right now. Problem is they both deserve a shot to start full time, but as long as DeRos doing his thing they wont. Theriot was the opening day starter, and as long as hes proving he can do the job, they're not going to take him out. I remember they were training Cedeno for center at one point, but I guess that didnt work out. Problem is, Theriot is at his ceiling right now. Cedeno isn't. And as long as he stays there, hes going to get playing time.
  9. Did he stumble over Dan Kolb on the way out?
  10. They're right. WHo have they had? They beat the Giants, Nats, Reds, and Astros in series, and split with the Brewers, and I forget how they did in the Rockies series. Meanwhile weve had the Mets and Phillies, plus the Brewers twice who always give us their all.

  12. I know Ronnys been great lately, but as long as Theriot keeps getting on base, Lous going to put him in. I just wish hed work on his base running. On a similar note, werent they trying Cedeno out in center this Spring? Did it just not work out that well? Nothing against Pie, but Ronnys just a better baseball playerin every aspect of the game.
  13. Im going to say as a set up man, but if Wood keeps it up, we may not have a choice. Still it makes me think of a former set up man we once had whose very name brings up fits of vomitting amongst Cubs fans. Still back in 2004, he was at the top of his game as one of baseballs top set up men, until, against his wishes, Dusty Baker moved him to closer, and hes never been the same since. Another career that bit the Dust at the hands of Dusty. I cant imagine anyone wanting him as a starter. He wouldnt be able to exhibit nearly as much dominance. As a 1, 2 at most inning guy, he can put his best stuff into every pitch, but as a starter hed have to pace himself through 5-7 innings. If you could just take a lights out closer, and make him a light out starter, many a lights out closer would have long since become a starter.
  14. It will be strange, almost sad seeing St Lou without Edmonds, Rolen, and Eckstein. I know Eck was only there for 3 years and Rolen for 4 or 5, but it's seemed like a lifetime. Then again, in the 3-5 years, we have an entirely different team as well. That being said, after todays game, I wont be satisfied with anything short of a sweep.
  15. With Tulo on his way to the DL until at least the ASB, this makes Ronny Cedeno or Ryan Theriot very valuable to them. I actually do like both Theriot and Cedeno, but like Higlanders, in the end, there can only be one, and the other will rot away on the bench. I know theres probably an abundance of teams, including the White Sox considering unloading there worthless back up short stops on them, but Theriot or Cedeno would be one of the more enticning out there. Do the Rox have any decent middle relievers theyd be willing to part with?
  16. Juan Mateos chances of making the big league team rank somewhere between Mark Hollimon and Randy Wells, so I could really care less what becomes of him. Use him as a throw in in an effort to get a decent middle reliever.
  17. The Giants have a full we're not going to trade Linecum clause.
  18. Were the best team in the NL. we're going to sweep the Cards and bing them down to earth. Congrats Brewers on you're newly aquird momentum. It will last them a series or 2, and they'll go back to normal.
  19. SO why is Matt Murton on a bus to Iowa while Felix Pie remains on our team?
  20. Theriot has done OK for himself, but what does Cedeno have to do to get a start these days?
  21. Its official. Matt Murtons on his way to Iowa. Tough break Red.
  22. hes trying to get rid of a position player here. that move would be pretty counter active.
  23. 2 hours to game time, and no move made, which suggests I may be right and Hendrys on the horn trying to work something out. I mean Murton hasnt exactly been a star, but he deserves to be in the majors. Unless Lou, Rothschild, and Perry have Murton, Pie, and Hart sitting in some board room, and Lou making the decision Trump style.
  24. I wouldnt be surprised if Hart got sent down, but it would be a seperate transaction.
  25. I wouldnt be surprised to hear about a last second trade in the next few hours, involving murton, hopefully for a respectable middle reliever, but more likely some mid level AAer. I know Atlanta, San Diego, Washington, and San Fran could all use an extra outfielder.
