  1. These jack holes really need to rack up some Ws.
  2. Phillies up 5-2 in the 2nd. Anibel Sahchez chased after 1.2 innings.
  3. If I dont see Ronny Cedeno in the dugout with a black eye and a broken nose, I will be very dissapointed. Time for The Cobs to take a new approach, like oh, scoring more runs than the opponent.
  4. Speaking of which...
  5. The question is who to root for? Does our natural hatred for the Packers go over the fact that Minnesota is the true threat in the division? Im not saying that the Bears are going to be contenders this season, but I dont remember entering the 2006-2007 season with particularly high hopes. You didn't have high hopes for the Bears going into the 2006 season? I knew it was an overall weak division, and I knew they had a pretty good chance to take that, but it wasnt until the season started until I thoguht we had a real live contender on our hands. I still remember that game with the Cardinals when Dennis Green had his infamous meldown, and Charles Barlkey was doing commentating. I fiorget the score going into the half, but it wasnt good, but Barkley said that he knew this one wasnt over. Cardinals had 4th and short real close to the end zone and Barkley said he couldn't believe they were going for a FG. Aroud half time, Barkley said something like this ones not over or dont count the Bears out just yet.
  6. Yeah, but they lost Mr. .275/.324/.410/.734 whose older thand dirt, but always came up with clutch hits against us.

  9. Precautionary measures. No game today.
  10. Apparently, theres 1. They were just messing with you. Have you not been in any of the game threads this past week? Dont be so sure.
  11. Apparently, theres 1.
  12. On one hand, we have the collapsists, on the oher, we have the eternal optimists. Just out of curiosity, lets see where everyone stands. How does the 2008 regualr season end? I have to think that we end up with the division, but even if we dont, I cant see us not making Octoer.
  13. If that were the case, why would Lou have Harden in the rotation the rest of the way? You might want to hold off on that argument until Harden, you know, pitches again. And you might want to hold on to that arguement until Harden, you know, doesnt pitch. As far as Ive heard, there are no indications that Harden wont pitch wednesday or thursday. If he doesnt pitch either of those games, then theres something wrong, and all the were just keeping him rested talk becomes bull pocky. At any rate, this season is going from Beautiful, to scary, to downright weird. Let's just wait to see what happens. Thats essentially what I was trying to say. If Thursday rolls around however, and no Harden, then there could be trouble, but so far, there have been no indications that he wont take his scheduled start in St. Louis.

  16. Whats a shame. So I take it we have a spot opening up on the 40 man then.
  17. Marlins(Sanchez) @ Phillies(Blanton) DBR(Volquez) @ Brewers(Bush) Cobs can get a game knocked off of each magic number without doing anything today. Hopefully they dont have to rely on that type of thing for too much longer.
  18. Does anyone think that if weve clinched by that time, that Rich Harden will be pitching in the Milwaukee series? And of we havnt clinched by then, wouldnt we want Harden to pitch in that series? And if Z, Demp, and Lilly all pitch an the NLDS first 3 games, and we win all 3 games, and Hardens spot doesnt come up, will it matter?
  19. Meh. With the Phils losing game 2 of the DH, our magic number for a PO spot is 12. Granted it should be 11, but it isnt. It will be pretty tough to blow this. I know bigger collpases have hapened, but the big difference between the 1964 Phillies, the 2007 Mets, the 1969/2004 Cubs is that they have NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS TEAM. Once we knock that number down to 0, then we can start worrying about the division.
  20. BUT WE NEED A GOOD HITTER, NOT A GOOD OPSER What do you care? The seasons long over as far as you're concerned.
  21. Wait, a .742 OPS is "bordering .800"? I meant OPS in general, which is .797, which is in fact bordering .800. yes but you're arguing that he should play full time, meaning that he should play against RHP, so his overall OPS is pretty irrelevant in supporting your argument. No, hes hitting .284 against righties. I know they say .avg is irrelevant these days, but the anti-Reed arguement is that he cant hit righties, not that he cant OPS against righties, and the .284 avg proves that he can in fat hit righties. I just dont fel that Edmonds is in a point in his career where he should be a full time player. Hes wearing down, and hed be best suited as a bat off the bench at this point.

  23. Thank you for what you have done Jim Edmonds, but the fact is, hes ha been nothing short of putrid lately. Hes still good to have as a lefty off the bench, but I just dont see him as a full time center fielder on a contending team anymore. I know theres the whole Reed Johnson cant hit righties thing, but the fact is, hes really no that bad against them this year. While he hits in the .330's vs. lefties, hes still a respetable .284 against righties, and has an OPS bordering .800. Neither have been steller as of late, but maybe one needs to be given the opportunity to play full time and hope they can heat up. Jusdging by the stats, Reeds our guy.
  24. twice in 130 years of major league baseball. Out of curiosity, which ones? 1969 Cubs, 2007 Mets? 1964 Phillies and 2007 mets. How about the 1995 Angels? The 1964 "Phold" is considered the biggest collapse in major league history. Phillies were up like 11 games in mid September and crapped themselves.
  25. Maybe DuBois. Is this Andres Blanco character any good at short?
