  1. Agreed on most points. I still think they'd be a harder matchup than Houston lets say, but I definitely don't hate the Milwaukee Brewers, and if the Cubs weren't going to be a playoff team, I'd want them to be. I wouldn't root for them to lets say win the World Series, because their fans would never let us hear the end of it. As the Phillies and Diamondbacks found out last October, theres nothing more dangerous than a team who esentially rose from nowhere toward the end of the season and streaked themselves into the playoffs.
  2. Is Houston any bigger of a fan base than Milwaukee? The Astros and Brewers have similar fan bases, in that they have a lot of fans in their own cities, but not much outside, unlike the Cubs, Mets, Red Sox, Yankees who have fans all over the country.
  3. Thats huge for the White Sox and Red Sox who are dominant at home, and the Rays and Twins are bot so so on the road. Luckily, it will probably be meaningless for the Cubs. Still, I think a Royal Rumple type scenerio would work out better than a coin flip.
  4. As we are all well aware, there are those guys out there, like Pujols, C-Lee, Adam Dunn, etc. who seem to dominate us every time out. My question is, do we have any 1 player that does the same to any other particular team whenever they meet? I know DeRosa has had some success against Cincy, but not to that magnitude.
  5. The Geovany Soto in the park home run in Houston The Reed Johnson bill flip catch Ted Lilly charging over Molina, and almost laughing as he rolled around in agony The 9th inning go ahead home run off of Jose Valverde on Monday that causes his head to explode.
  6. Turn of the century London.
  7. Its not about hate, hes just in the wrong part of the order. Lou has experimented with every spot in the lineup, except for 1, 3, and 4. Your #3 guy should be your best all around hitter. Thats not Lee anymore. Hed be great somewhere lower in the order.
  8. actually I think that is an overreation. I think there is a reasonable chance that Harden can get his velocity back. Even if he doesn't, he can still be a quality pitcher. I am very optimistic of the Cub's chances in the play-offs. LOL at this guy taking the above post seriously
  9. Havnt we gone through this freaking discussion every time Harden pitches? If his velocity were really going progressively down after every game, hed be Shingo Takatsu by now.
  10. Lee does hit a lot of singles, apparently, and his DPs have been down. Good for him. Sounds like a good 2 or 6 hitter. The problem is, our lineup doesnt really have that solid number 3 type hitter, but then again, a lot of teams dont. We cant all have an A Rod, Pujols, or Berkman. Soriano seems like a good fit, but hes so damn streaky and inconsistant, and we dont know what hed do out of the 3 hole, and were not at the point in the season where we should be testing it. Maybe if we can clinch early enough, Lou can try it, and see how it works. The best bet would be Aramis at 3 and Soto at 4. Worth a try anyway. Soriano Theriot Ramirez Soto DeRosa Lee whoevers in center whoevers in right could be worth a try for a few games.
  11. No, because theyd still be tied with the Stros, and in that case, both teams would have to lose in order for us to bump the # down.
  12. Right now, the Phils and Astros are tied for the WC. So with the Astros idle, I guess that if the Phils win the next 2 games, and lose the 3rd, and we win 1 of the Sunday games. I think anyway.
  13. Can they still decide to take it elsewhere and elect for a DH on Saturday, or will there be no games the next 2 days no matter what? Theyre saying a DH Sunday and a game Monday. Hopefully, it will give the Astros a few days to cool off and work to our advantage. Still it is very possible that we end the weekend with a magic number of 8 without playing game.
  14. I'm sure you will be saying the same thing over on GWRB.com They are who they thought they were. The Cubs are who they thought they were. Thats why we took the damn field. If you want to crown them, then crown their arse.
  15. That was awesome on many levels, considering we dont know when the next game is. I say if the Astros refuse to take it somewhere else, they should forfeit.
  16. Bases loaded doesnt matter at this point. A clean knock ends it.
  17. For who the guy who got lit up last inning? Yup, that guy. Especially since Wood has apparently been taking pitching lesons from Bob Howry.
  18. If Pujols gets anything remotely hittable, we deserve to lose.
  19. Here comes the Aaron Miles RBI followed by the Pujols bomb, followed by hopefully, Woody losing the closers job.
  20. Starting pitching is back. Defense is back. Offense, were still waiting on you.
  21. At what point does our brilliant manager realise that Wood is worthless as a closer?
  22. I don't know about you, but I did. I didnt. They just come at pointless times.
