  1. Not even close. actually, it is.in 2006, we knew we had a crap team on our hands from the get go, but now, we have a high pay roll team that should be steamrolling their way to the top, and they cant hang.
  2. Th best part is that the Cardinals and Rockies are both down vs. teams they have no business being down to, so a mildly competant Cubs team could pick up a game on both the division and the WC.
  3. Is our drooling imbecile of a manager ever going to realize that Carlos Marmol is no longer the go to guy and probably never will be again.
  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO a sub .800 OPSer. Were DOOOMMED
  5. I was recently up in the "Michiana" area and saw a few games between the Chiefs and South Bend Silver Hawks. Rebel can hit and certainly looks the part of a prospect, however he is a terrible in the field. I mean bad. The entire Chiefs team looked impressive when I saw them. I don't know how much it had to do with competition but they have some good looking young ball players on that team. So we have Jake Fox on our hands. Maybe we'll see him when hes 33 and putting up a .395/.410/.650 line in Iowa.
  6. The Cubs are always doing stuff. Were just handcuffed now by the sale or lack there of. The White Sox keep doing these little quiet moves that end up paying off for them, such as Dye, Pierzynskie, Floyd, Danks, Podsednik, Quentin, and bringing up Gordon Beckham. They just dont tend to make splashes like they did with Peavy and Rios. The Cubs dont like taking chances on players unless they're extremely low risk. I cant imagine Jim Hendry going out and signing a guy like Jermaine Dye, or trade veteran pitchers for guys like Floyd and Danks. If we were to ever sign a former top prospect like Carlos Quentin, he probably never would have made his way out of Iowa.
  7. And then Dusty never gets the chance to kill multi time Cy Young winner Mark Prior Miguel Tejada is still busted for roids and long gone from the Cubs by now Eric Bedard still has his consistant injury problems.
  8. If nothing else, you have to commend Williams for having balls. In the past 2 weeks, hes pulled off 2 massive moves that could just as easily take his team to the top as blow up in his face. If Rios does what hes done all year for the remainder of his contract, and they let Dye and Thome walk, and Konerko the follwing year, it could look very bad. On the other hand, if Rios goes back to doing what got him that contract to begin with, Kenny looks like a genious.
  9. I wonder if theres any chance that the Rangers would want to move Michael Young.
  10. I know we all said this last time Ramirez went down, but if he does, Soriano is going to have to pick up the pace in a major way. At least this time around, hopefully Lou will go straight to Jake Fox without messing around like he did last time. It makes me wonder which is worse, the Mets losing everyone at once, or this worms in a can crap where everytime someone comes off the DL someone else goes down.
  11. -I know this is thinking ahead of ourselves, more for the 2011 season, but if next year, Jake Fox doesnt look like he'll be able to be a full time 1st baseman, correct me if Im wrong, but both Prince Fielder and Adam Dunn will be free agents in 2011. -what are the chances that we can make a trade for Halladay in the offseason? It will cost a lot for a guy with 1 year left on his contract, but it would be worth it.
  12. Hopefully Ted can come back soon so someone else take their turn on the DL.
  13. I've really grown to appreciate him too. I wonder if Brenly's going to get jumped by anyone on the team. You'd really have to wonder if he would get a chance to manage the team is Lou retires, which I fully expect him to do. The Cubs are a reflection of him right now. He seems very matter of fact this year and so does this team. Injuries aside, they have looked like a mediocre team all year long. I want Bob to stay in the booth. Give the job to Trammel if they want to stay in house. If not there are other guys out there who Id take. At this point, Id throw a bucket full of money at Larussa, ever though I hate the bastard, but his teams sure as hell dont underperform like this. I hear Bobby Valentine wants to come back to our side of the pond after this season.
  14. Do yourselves a favor. turn this game off. All its going to do is piss you off further. When we get back to Wrigley, its a whole different team. This game isnt going to make or break anything.
  15. Its 1 series. the wheels arent off yet. They're starting to wobble. We'll really be in trouble if we lay an egg during the Phillies series. We just need to accept that the 2009 Cubs are a decent-good team. The juggernauts of 2008 arent coming back. We can still make the playoffs, and when you get there, its anyones ballgame.
  16. who gives a [expletive]? Adults who are obsessed with comic books, thats who.
  17. grand slam or he's losing it. Im not even concerned with the division anymore. At this point, the best that can happen is the Cardinals get knocked out in the 1st round, Holliday skips town in the offseason, and Brett Wallace becomes a superstar.
  18. How and when did David Cales make his way to Iowa?
  19. I think our best bet is to wait for the Rockies and Giants to bet each other up and back door it into the Wild Card.
  20. Cant we just play the Reds, Nationals, and other such teams? When will the league relaize that the Cubs are no match for major league teams.
  21. Another thing that could help us is the stats of the division. I really dont see DeRosa or Holliday back in St. Lou. I know they want Holliday, but if he keeps doing what he has been, the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, and especially the Giants will be hot on his trail. Also, will the Brewers try to keep their window open another year and keep Fielder, Weeks, and Hardy around, or would this be a good time for them to do what they do best and rebuild?
