  1. I couldnt help but laugh at thir part
  2. One was a playoff game, one wasn't. One (supposedly) cost the Cubs a significant out in a game that could have sent the Cubs to the WS. One didn't. It's the circumstances that made Bartman memorable. Im not debating that, its just that one guy really did nothing wrong, it was just bad timing. Chances are, Moises never catches that ball and Gonzalez still botches that DP no matter what. Meanwhiel the other guy completely makes our entire fan bases look like idiots, and will ultimately be forgotten.
  3. I think the real crime is that Steve Bartman will forever be linked to the failure of the Chicago Cubs and forced into hiding because of the fact that he happened to catch a ball that about 10 other people were also reaching for, and this douche will probably be forgotten by next tuesday.
  4. 26 games, not 70. 26, 70, same thing basically. yeah, I was looking at his Peoria line there. Still, I would have expected to see at least some progress by now.
  5. You have keen eyes. They played a report on the radio earlier stating that security did indeed detain the wrong guy, and the guy who threw the beer walked away. The report went on to say that the Cubs will issue a photo of the guy--with the help of the CPD and hope to prosecute him to the fullest extent possible. I would certainly hope that the guy they threw out would get a free game ticket or something. Please, he'll get a lot more than that. public humiliation on national television is worth more than a free ticket.
  6. refer to Jim Edmonds. It wouldnt go over at first with alot of fans, but if he helped us win, it wouldnt take long to welcome him in.
  7. I wonder if the wrong guy can file a public humiliation law suit.
  8. I'm 110% on board with this. Man that'd be awesome. I would definitely be a fan of that. Eventually, eryone would end up hating Valentine as much as any other manager. Maybe he can follow in Lou and Dustys footsteps and give us 2 good seasons before the bottom drops out. Hopefully 1 of those can be a championship.
  9. I'm sure I could catch a classic game on MLB Network sometime in January. ;) Who cares. The Bears will be storming their way to the Super Bowl, so the epic fail that was the 2009 Cubs will be out of sight and out of mind.
  10. The new owner might also not want to have to pay Hendry for not working for the next 3 years. Plus, that's assuming the sale goes through in the next 2 months. If the sale is completed in November or later, Hendry stays for sure in order to make sure that the 2009 offseason isn't a total wash. dont say that.
  11. The only guy Id actually waive is Soriano. While he does frustrate the hell out of me, Im still pretty sure he has more left in the tank, but not 18mil/5 years worth. If we did put him on waivers, and some team was dumb enough to make the claim, Id suggest letting them have him, and the only thing Id want in return is for them to take Aaron Miles with him. That money could be huge for the team in the off season. I highly, highly doubt any team would claim him, but you never know. If teams caught him going through waivers, they could claim him to block another team, and bam, snap the trap, and it would be Jim Hendrys greatest move since the Ramirez trade.
  12. Just relax, its just a matter of time before Ryan Harvey and Mark Pawalek are called up. Hopefully as soon as September. I cant help but notice that I havnt heard much about either this year though.
  13. Whats going on with Vitters? Hes been in Daytona for 70 games and hes just not getting it. If that hand injuries whats bothering him, theres no reason not to shut him down until it gets better.
  14. Caridad and Shark suck. Marshall had a bad outing.
  15. I really get the feeling that 2010 will be all about trial and error. I dont see DeRosa or Holliday back with the Cardinals, so I dont see a dominant team in this division of any kind. Maybe they'll sign a MI, maybe resign Harden, and Im sure a lot of fruitless Halladay rumors will swirl. Anyway, I feel that some of the focuses of next year will be can Jake Fox be the 1st baseman of the future, or will they have to sign someone else in 2011 after Lees gone. Prince Fielder sure would look nice in a Cubs uniform. Is Geovany Soto having a sophmore slump this year, or will we have to find a better catcher in 2011? By that time, there should be some decent money off the books, and Ive been patient long enough to let 2010 be another 2005 if they can make some solid additions in 2011 when they have the money.
  16. Seriously, hes got to be. With this train wresck of a bullpen, he needs to go and Caridad needs to go. Make room on the 40 man(why the hell does Chad "hes still here?" Fox still occupy a spot anyway) and give 2 of Gaub, Stevens, Berg, and Parker a shot. At this point, I have no reason to believe that Shark will ever be any better than Caridad or JR Mathes anyway.
  17. They have the better pitcher, they have the better offense, but hey, who the hell knows. A win today would be nothing more than a pleasant surprise before we start getting excited again about beating up on the Pirates and Padres before the Dodgers take us back to reality once again.
  18. I guess Ill have to agree with you on that. Its one thing to fire a guy if its going to help the organization and you have something better lined up, but its not smart to fire him as a punishment when the backup might not be any better and not have any money to work with.
  19. We could just be like the Pirates and trade all of our players for prospects and when those prospects get good trade them for more prospects and continue to repeat the process.
  20. If we could have gotten this kind of decent but not great offense when we were getting that lights out pitching in May and June, wed be in very good shape right about now.
  21. Actually, this is a good time for him to come into a no pressure sitution and try to hrow strikes and not worry about where they land.
  22. I dont see this thread ending well.
  23. I really dont see them giving him up for nothing considering the Brewers had earlier tried to aquire him and not offered enough. I wonder if they trade Bill Hall for him.
