  1. I agree. The comdedy of errors isnt quite as comedic when your contending. At this point, we should just turn on the game, turn the TV on mute, play the Benny Hill theme music on repeat and enjoy the show.
  2. Yeah, we need a fiery guy to replace that old softie Lou Piniella. SORIANO!!! PLAY BETTER OR I'LL ASK YOU TO GIVE UP 100M CAUSE I'M ANGRY Im saying Soriano would be begging to opt out. A lot of people dont quite know the extent of Bobby Vs reputation.
  3. This team needs Bobby Valentine. He may be hated by every player hes ever managed, but hed hold these guys accountable. He wouldnt just let Soriano play like crap and let it go, Bobby would have him begging to opt out of his contract if he didnt shape up. He wouldnt let Geovany Soto leave spring training looking like the Pillsbury Doughboy. Aaron Miles would be long gone. Kevin Gregg would be cowering in a corner.
  4. Hendry did make a mess, but theres blood on Lous hands as well. Wasnt he the one who wanted to be more left handed? Hows that working out?
  5. Right now, Im telling myself that I wont bother watching this game. Im also telling myself that if I do watch this game, I wont be frustrated when the Cubs lose. Im pretty sure Ill end up watching it, and Im pretty sure Ill be frustrated when they lose.
  6. I'm at the point where I'm not angry at Miles anymore. I know he sucks, he knows he sucks, everybody on the planet knows he sucks...exept for Lou. Why why why do you pinch hit him in a 2-2 game with the bases loaded? Is Lou saving Fox for a bigger situation? The only thing I could think of was that Lou thought that Miles was due, which he very much is. Or maybe he doesnt care any more and Miles was just the first guy he saw.
  7. The Red Sox were ready to dump Lugo and eat the remainder of his salary, so that parts irrelevant.
  8. needs to go far, far away. There is no reason whatsoever for him to remain on this team. When we first signed him, I didnt so much mind him as a piece on the team, but the contract didnt make sense. Why couldnt we get him or a similar player on a 1 year >1 million contract? Granted, I had no idea quite how bad hed be, but now that we know, theres no reason to keep him around. Bakers your starting 2B and can fill in at 3rd., Fontenots your backup 2B/3B and Blancos your backup 2B/SS. Fox can also play 3rd. Id rather have any of these guys at the plate than Miles. Just get rid of him.
  9. I get a sick feeling that Lee and/or Fukudome and/or Lilly will be traded in the offseason. I really hope not. Id really like to see what this group as a whole can do next year, again, just add a closer like Valverde, Soriano, or even Billy Wagner if we could get him for a Trevor Hoffman-esque 1 year contract.
  10. Im at the point where Ill be accepting of anything other than a Cardinals/White Sox World Series.
  11. I say we offer him a massive contract if Daddy Duncan promises to retire :D)
  12. Yup, I think I'd rather root for the wheels to fall off than keep clinging onto hope that the Cubs can somehow overcome their minuscule odds and make the playoffs. Id definitely rather root for the sneaking into the playoffs option, but I suppose if your rooting for the wheels falling off option, your a lot less likely to be dissapointed.
  13. Do tell. I mean, I fully expect Lou to run and hide after this season, but sooner??? It was a lot of speculation, but the discussion was that Lou is very frustrated and could possibly step down as soon as the Cubs are mathematically eliminated. He said it is pretty much a foregone conclusion that he won't be back next year. Well then...who replaces him? Will they make a splash like they have the last 3 managers, or will they go in house and hire someone like Trammel? From all indications, Ryno WILL BE the next Cubs manager. Anytime a statment starts out with "if Terry Boers' sources are correct" be sure to take it with a grain of salt.
  14. Im thinking the Cardinals have officially run away with the division. Congratulations Mr. Hendry, now please resign.
  15. Because at that time, Hendry never thought that the well could possibly run dry. He was like a Beverly Hills Housewife before her hubby finally canceled her credit card.
  16. A gapper between Soriano's bat and the ball maybe. Why don't we trade him?! Somebody has to be willing to take him in order to trade him. What if we threw in Miles? If I offered you a bag of horse crap, and threw in boot to the head, what would you give me in return?
  17. The worst of some of Hendry's awful contracts. If this year is any indication of the remainder of his years, it could easily go down with the worst contract in sports history.
  18. Hopefully Soriano doesnt ground into a DP so Baker can get a chance.
  19. Starlin Castros 3-3+ a walk. Tyler Colvin has a HR Brett Jackson and Hak Ju Lee each have a 2B LaMahieu is 2-3
  20. Funny, because I always think of Good Ole JR whenever I hear Hawk Harrelsons babble. either him or this guy
  21. Would you prefer Cowboy Up? or screw up, which is what he did to this team.
  22. I know they already put him through once and pulled him back when an unidentified team clamied him, so does this mean they cant pull him back again if claimed?
  23. They absolutely have a chance. They're currently in 3rd place in their division, but only 1.5 games out of first. I'm not familiar with how wild cards work in the PCL (or even if they have them in the first place), so I'm not sure if that's another route to the playoffs. Good news, thanks. If they make the playoffs, hopefully he'll remain in Iowa to start in the postseason. Once the Iowa season ends, however, there's really no reason not to call him up - even if he's used sparingly. Any chance some players on the 25 man are optioned down to Iowa to help with the playoff push? Aaron Miles and Kevin Gregg? :beg:
