  1. If you moved to a new land would you bring a bunch or squirrels and pidgeons with you?
  2. My list wasn't neccessarily guys I would or wouldn't be willing to give up, more so a list of guys that Boston, or another team in general might be interested in in response to dave, I believe it was who said that we only had about 7 worth while guys in the organization.
  3. I doubt that's going to work, considering the Cubs might not have more than 10 players in the organization that the Red Sox would want. Castro Garza Soto Marshall Anyone else from the ML roster? Then a handful of intriguing prospects: Jackson McNutt Sczrzr That's 7. Pick your favorite next three (not including 2011 draftees), and the cupboard is pretty bare after that. You can only think of 3 prospects another team might want? The pessimistic whining of some fans makes me want to stab kittens. Nah, we're murdering kangaroos now. Try to keep up. more genocide than murder as we're likely eliminating almost an entire species here.

You can only think of 3 prospects another team might want? The pessimistic whining of some fans makes me want to stab kittens. I can think of plenty. Jay Jackson, Lake, Rusin, Flaherty, LeMahieu, Antigua, Golden, Beliveau, Dolis, Watkins, Struck, Beeler, Gonzalez, Wells, Hernandez, Vitters, Silva, Whitenack, Ha, Searle, Rhee, Rhoderick off the top of my head. Sure, most of them may not be major league ready, but the Red Sox have enough at the big league level that they can stand to take on a few low level guys. They're essentially getting free prospects here as Epstein is probably leaving regardless and has already been replaced. It's just gravy. Again, I really don't think that we should have to, but if that's what it takes in the end. In reality, they should be getting guys like Ridling, Coleman, Gaub, Bour, and Lalli at best.
  5. We have to condense all of the nonsense into a shorter time frame. With those 2, we had the entire winter. With this, we only have about another week at most.
  6. The Red Sox are going to let $6.5 million burn, and that's certainly worth more than the entirety of Australia. Yeah, but what if McNutts a bust? Then all of those people and kangaroos died for nothing.
  7. I don't hate Soriano nearly as much as most(and actually like him on a personal level), but you have to take that trade. Doesn't really make sense for the Red Sox unless we give them cash as well. Lackey makes just over 15 mil /year through 2014 with a 500K option of some kind for '15 and Soriano makes 18 mil/year through 2014. Z and Soriano for Crawford would probably make more sense. is 18 mil for '12, 19 mil or 9 mil buyout for '13. Crawford is roughly 20 mil/year through 2017. Basically, they end up paying double in 2012, 75% more in 2013, but they're off the hook from '14-'17.
  8. So around when in relation to The Cardinals power surge was Nyjer Morgans tirade against Carpenter, Alberta, and The Birds? I'm thinking that was their rallying point more so than any one game. They probably had it on the bullitan board or played the sound bite in the locker room before every game. Perhaps had a cardboard cut out of him ala Rachel Phelps.
  9. This seriously need to get done sooner than later. We need to have a GM as soon as the offseason begins, a good one at that. Here's my suggestion: let Luccino send us a list of 25 players. We cross off 10, and let them chose 2 of the remaining, and we'll send 1 more of our chosing off the same list.
  10. Im starting to think that the Red Sox are going to drag this thing as close to the start of the free agent signing period as possible in hopes that we'll cave and give up something ridiculous.
  11. Who do you mean by each of them? theres Wolf who pitched a few days ago and got lucky an Narveson who just got smacked around a few innings ago.
  12. Damn, this one became a slug fest in a hurry.
  13. Thay one ninedy gaymes. Accept it.
  14. Agreed. If you're going to trade a top prospect, you best be getting a good player in return. This isn't Bryce Harper we're talking about and he's not untouchable, nor should anyone in our organization aside from Castro and Garza. For instance, if we were to work out a deal with the Rays for a pitcher, I'd be OK with using Szczur to build a package around. Especially considering that our farm system isn't loaded with talent to trade if we do want to make a trade in the winter.
  15. It took any epic collapse from the Braves to get The Braves out of the playoffs. It took an epic surge by the Cardinals at the same time to get them in. Had the '69 Mets not surged that summer, the '69 Cubs might no be known for their failure and we might be in year 42 of our little draught. [expletive], I wish a 65 win season on the 2012 Cardinals, but for now we have to give credit where credit is do.
  16. Yep, it's what they do. Why don't they deserve it? Because they signed Lance Berkman, Ryan Theriot, and Nick Punto instead of a bunch of big money guys? Because they lost their ace before the season began? Because they didn't cash in any remaining valuable prospects they had for a must win season? Because they didn't assemble an all universe starting rotation? Because their big trade deadline acquisitions were a ho hum mid rotation starter and a reliever some thought retired 5 years ago? Hate to say it, but TLR and his band of rat bastards are arguably the most deserving team in the post season.
  17. I agree. It's really well done site. Very simple and clean. Never heard of hybrid blog software before, but I really like the look of it. When did you start the site? I see you're ranking 156,000.. Do you tweet all your blogs? If not you should that number would decrease greatly in no at time at all. Thanks - BN started in December 2008, and I started working on it full-time in May of this year. I do indeed tweet all my posts ( ), and I put them up on Facebook as well (http://www.facebook.com/bleachernation). I do other stuff on Facebook and Twitter, also - just to keep them a little different/interesting. Not that I'm shamelessly self-promoting BN's Twitter and Facebook page, but since you asked... I just sent you a PM. No need to derail the thread. I don't know, I think that the Bleacher Nation Love Thread is far more interesting than any news on some guy named Theo. Hey if want to hook the guy up, like him on Facebook so your friends might check it out. No publicity is bad publicity as we say.
  18. He's resigning with them. Our only hope is that once they win this world series they do what they do and we get to add to that cardinals in hell photo. Yep. I have no doubts he's Cardinal next year. Yeah, but at least our new GM Ned Colletti will give Carlos Pena a nice, fat 5 year extension, amiright?
  19. Still don't want to give up Szczur. Any way we could sell them on Ha instead? Not like they'll be needing a starting OF anytime soon, especially center. Hell looking at the Red Sox, they're set at 1B, 2B, 3B, LF, and CF for years to come. Redick looks like he should be holding down RF as well. I don't mind giving up guys like Jay or Flaherty who look like they could be useful big leaguers as soon as next season, but Szczur may very well be our top prospect assuming Brett hits the bigs in 2012. Baker+ 2 of Jay, Flaherty, Rusin, Dolis, Castillo, Coleman, Castillo, Watkins, Cerda, etc. Is overpaying ad is, but if that's what it takes to get the job done, so be it. Szczur should not be on the table unless we're getting something else back as well.
  20. I know it's just the 7th, but with a 12-4 lead I'm going to give an early congratulations to the Texas Rangers on winning their second consecutive AL pennant. Now win another 4 games or fly your team plane into a mountain. Thanks in advance.
  21. I take it more as the usual whoa is us, we're the Cubs, nothing could possibly work out for us mumbo jumbo than trolling.
  22. Muskat says something we want to hear and all of the sudden she has some shred of credibility?
  23. Yeah, Javier Baez would be a great trade target for the Red Sox... if he were eligible to be traded yet. Derp. Looking at that list, while I don't think we should have to, I'd be willing send them any two of Castillo, Rusin, Coleman, Gonzalez, Watkins, Dolis, Cerda, Simpson, and J. Jackson. Maybe Flaherty or LeMahieu. Very torn on Rhee, Ha, Vitters, and Golden. Definite nos on Brett, Szczur, Wells, and McNutt. Just based on Boston's needs, I'd think Castillo, Watkins and Dolis would be an enticing package, along with some cash. All MLB ready and they have questions in the pen, at SS and behind the plate. Watkins is nowhere near MLB ready. If they want MLB ready SS, Marwins the guy. I'm surprised that Beliveau wasn't on the list. I still say Baker+prospect+ cash is fair.

  25. The one thing about the Cards winning this series would be them celebrating in front of the Brewers fans at Miller who have gotten way too cocky after one good season. Also, a big [expletive] you to T Plush or whatever her wants to call himself. Douchey McDouche Braun too. Granted, I'd much rather it go down at the hands of the Braves or the Phillies, but I'll take what I can get. Still, I'm not all that convinced that the Brewers won't coke back as they've been damn good at home, and tomorrow is Marcum vs. Edwin Jackson and then back to Gallardo.
