  1. Yes, and if anyone watches more than two innings of them play ball, they'll see why. yeah, they are defensively sound, no doubt about it...but that is still an astonishing statistic... i wouldn't mind trading lou for hurdle...why doesn't every manager play the "make sure the ball doesn't hit the ground during practice" game? what the crap! come on lou!!!
  2. Those were the real Chicago Cubs. No, those weren't. No kidding. The Cubs sure aren't the '27 Yanks, but what they showed in the LDS was pitiful, and certainly not what they had been for most of the season. Arizona was exposed by Colorado the same way they should have been exposed by the Cubs. It would make me feel much better if I could believe that Arizona was the better team and the Cubs were simply beaten, but I would be lying to myself. at least i am not alone
  3. oh...watching the game last night...one of the commentators said that percentage wise, the rockies have the best defense in major league history this year!??!? is that true?
  4. They split that series, and the Cubs won the season series 5-2. exactly... listen, i understand that things are the way they are...the cubs lost...it took me about 3 days to get over it, but i am over it now... however, if they would have shown up for that NLDS...i think things would be different... i don't know why they played the absolute most pathetic baseball i had seen from them this season during that series...but can any cub fan here really, honestly say that if "the real chicago cubs" showed up in the playoffs...that they wouldn't have a chance?
  5. He did. Congrats Rockies. Well-deserved. Rockies would've owned Chicago if the Cubs made it to the NLCS. no, actually the cubs would have done the unbelievable...they would have made it a good NLCS...i don't know if they would have won, but i know they wouldn't have been swept... i am SO happy the diamonds got the broom...hopefully it will make them realize that they were lucky that the cubs fell over and played possum
  6. because if our team would have done something on the field...we would still be playing now, and without a doubt be giving colorado a very large run for the crown...oh well... i have to be honest though...watching these diamondbacks...who are not that good...leaves such a bad taste in my mouth...the sooner they are swept the better...
  7. just something extra to make me mad when i watch a red's game next year... the toothpick
  8. this has got to be a joke...not your quote...but trachsel...give me a break
  9. Wha??? Is this a drunk post or am i the only one who doesn't understand? drunk post that is hilarious... theriot and soriano both at 2nd? i wonder if fonzie would hop to pick up those infield rollers...
  10. At least we've got the Bulls. yeah, but why did they have to sign that goof from UF sigh...i am still pulling for them though
  11. If making the playoffs is the goal than it was a good signing. i mean if we get arod great, if not, don't blame hendry or soriano for screwing things up...it just wasn't meant to be It wasn't meant to be? That sounds like a convenient excuse for any Hendry mistake. well, quite honestly, the last time i checked no one on this board goes by the name of Jim Hendry...therefore, we do not have the influence he possesses when it comes to our favorite baseball team... meaning, soriano's contract was meant to be in terms of our realm of being, and anything that comes afterwards will be meant to be as well... want to change it? fine...go take the GM job instead of Hendry...i would be on my way to trying right now, but i am still in school
  12. If making the playoffs is the goal than it was a good signing. i mean if we get arod great, if not, don't blame hendry or soriano for screwing things up...it just wasn't meant to be
  13. blah...we don't make the playoffs without soriano
  14. screw the red sox...that would be devastating if they get A-Rod...and i will be seriously pissed off having to listen to my best friend all of the sudden fall in love for the very player that he has degraded over years past... no, no, no, no listen...this is what we need to do...find out where Alex lives...organize a night party to put up posters all over his yard, or at the very least, the outer boundaries of his estate saying simply... "Bleed Cubbie Blue Alex, Bleed Cubbie Blue." it could work :P
  15. i don't know...i have said all along...either alex wants a world championship or he just wants to make the money... if he wants to win a championship, i think he is gone...and the price to have him might not be as much as predicted because he will probably be hand picking where he wants to go...boras be damned... after the yankees crumbling again this year...things look bleak in yank-town U.S.A. for a while... we will see...i will not be surprised if he opts out
  16. i quite like this...maybe not tejada...but...i like it
  17. The D-backs suck. Okay, so then what does that make the gimmick known as the Cubs? unlucky, uptight, and nervous because of the gynormous black cloud of a century worth of failure that hangs over the organization could have a little something to do with it just a little...maybe not all...but...just a little
  18. I really don't care to frame the issue in those terms anymore !!! doh, whatever nerve i hit fred...remember i am young and have very little tact sorry buddy :o
  19. Big Z came over to my house tonight and we both cried after our 20th shot of tequila... warning...don't ever get drunk with Z...he gets really huggy and well...he is a big guy and sweats profusely...
  20. i don't care, i just want to see a bloody world series championship before i die
  21. how old is ward? keep woody at all costs... please tell me that some ignorant GM will want marquis?
  22. and the man-crush only grows stronger
  23. what a joke, i think torre will be glad to get out of that clubhouse...
  24. First and foremost, you can't lose in the offseason...so, right there we already have a beautiful reprieve... seriously though, good things... Wood - man, it is great to see him back...starter next year?...who knows, all I know is that I hope he sticks with the cubbies Soto - if he isn't the starting catcher next year then something is wrong, plus he looks like a cousin of Dave Navarro...is he wearing mascara? Derosa - this guy is a class act, i love having players on this team that behave this way...i hope he isn't dealt off unless it is for something large... Marmol - very nasty...something happened at the end, but i think it just happened to about everybody on the whole team...think kid is the cat's meow... Prior - *please don't yell at me* - I hope the cubs keep him especially if his time table for availability is at the latest the end of May...oh...the good thing is that they finally figured out what is wrong with him...he had surgery and should hopefully be back...no more wondering really... We Lost - yes, the more and more I think about it, this is really only a good thing...I mean I have never seen a team of mine suck it up in a fashion quite as bad as this before...the only question mark we really had going into this series was Big Z...would he be too emotional?...well, Big Z was just fine and turned in a solid outing...everybody else though...they pretty much did...you know what...to the bed... After a butt kicking like this one, if this team doesn't have a fire for next season, I don't know what else could give them one...they played terrible...bottom line...they have to be embarrassed and ready for next year to show up instead of bowing out very very weakly... oh...the offseason sale is another *potential* good thing...hopefully this doesn't go bad and the cubs can still make some deals for next season unless things go absolutely great I still think we see Hendry next season...that really isn't a good thing though
