    The Cubs are in the playoff race and after several years of being told we'd be aggressive when we're competitive, it's looking like we may get a 1-WAR fifth starter while every other NL contender got more. If that's how it plays out, I think disappointment is in order. Have fun living that life, dude.

    I could easily see that quote from Maddon being taken as "Relax, you aren't sitting today because your being traded, its just a day off" Which is almost certainly what he meant.

    Mission Impossible?!? Talk about taking one for the team. I was thinking the same thing and then went on to Rotten Tomatoes and it has a 92%! What the [expletive]? The Mission Impossible movies are generally pretty solid, stand alone affairs with not much story and about the best stunts you can expect to see on screen. Certainly beats another Bourne movie or some crap.

    Don't worry you guys, I'm going to an 8 pm showing of Mission Impossible. I'm sure as soon as I head into that theater, the Cubs trade craziness will start.

    I can't see any scenario where Price would bypass a chance at the open market to sign a long term deal in Toronto. Also, now we don't have to worry about losing a draft pick for signing him, not that it was a huge concern to begin with. Not a huge concern, but you're definitely right that it's worth noting. I think that will be something Theo and Co. take into consideration and probably makes players such as Price and Cueto a bit more attractive to them than the alternatives.

    Really hope they don't extend him so the Cubs have a shot in the offseason. If he does get extended who does that leave this offseason? Cueto, Gallardo, Kazmir, Kennedy, Lackey, Latos, Samardzija, Zimmerman Still some good names out there, but a lot less sexy without price I'd be really surprised if the Jays ended up extending Price, especially before he hits the market. While it is kinda disappointing to see so many big names elsewhere, I can say I'm happy the Cubs didn't beat the prices paid for Hamels and Price so far. Agreed, I would rather take my chances in the offseason. That or maximize the value of the price you're paying and go for a controlled option like Ross. I'll be super bummed if they don't add at least 2 of 3 of: back-end starter, reliever, bench bat.

    I'm still hoping for a backend starter type, reliever, and bench bat. I really think the Padres do something major in the next 36 hours and it's with the Cubs or Blue Jays.

    Harrison is a lot more comparable to someone of Hendricks value than a Clayton Richard, imo
