  1. Rios is the surprise of the evening.
  2. I'm not sure what typical Cubs means... Predicting 7-0 or 6-1 was unrealistic. I was hoping for 5-2 but, all things considered, I'll take a 4-3 road trip. People will bemoan losing to Maholm and Youman but they both have pitched decently. Maholm is 4-0 in his career against the Cubs so it's not necessarily a flaw of this 2007 team that they haven't been able to get to him. Also, we all made fun of Shane Youman but give him credit as well, he shut both the Cubs and Brewers down in his first two starts of the year... For all the people that say "at least the Brewers lost to Snell and Gorzelanny...," don't forget that Youman also beat them and they lost to Simontacchi and Redding in WSH (both of whom lost to the Cubs). The Brewers went 3-7 on their 10 game road trip (losing 2 of 3 to the Cubs, 3 of 4 to the Pirates, and 2 of 3 to the Nationals). The Cubs are 6-4 during the same time period. Today's series loss is disappointing but the Cubs aren't playing poorly overall. Just to add to this - Mahalom pitched decently in the opener against the Brewers, but Kuwata melted down in his inning of relief in that game. Great point Jake. Without that meltdown, there was a real possibility of a Pirate sweep of the Brewers. There's no doubt that the Pirates have been the hottest team in the division over the past 10 days.

  4. So can you please take us out of the fecal standings now? Seriously? This looks like the Wild Card standings not the Fecal League.
  5. Two weeks? The Cubs are 22-11 since June 3; which is the best record in MLB since that date. :D
  6. Well, the Cubs scored 4 runs off of Maholm on 5/10 but lost because Z gave up 6 runs (4 earned). I was at that game. Z had a throwing error, which resulted in a run, and Matt Murton had a fielding error on the would-be third out of the inning (damn ball hit off the heel of his glove and a run scored). The Cubs should be able to handle this guy. Hopefully, Marquis can keep the red-hot hitting LaRoche in check as well as keep Jason Bay in his funk.
  7. Let's win 2 in a row and go 22-10 since June 3. :D
  8. I have to say, Lou is a genius. He has made a lot of the backup guys happy by starting them tonight, won the game, and gotten partial rest for some key starters. That's going to come in handy down the road.
  9. wow, AZ lost the series to the Cardinals. :x
  10. Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win! \:D/ 4.5 games back Baby!
  11. I think he's just stupid. Hard to argue Fonty with 3 hits
  12. Man, Sori should have homered there. oh well, I think the ball soars more during the day there.
  13. scouting report update: Send up lefties against Marmol. He's going to have to make adjustments
