  1. The guy is on the ropes and some people cant wait to swing. STUPID
  2. Jeeeze! If there was ever a time for a take sign
  3. Nah, I think Bush is just wild right now. He's almost hit Soto twice as well.
  4. If he used his hand, please do it again and break something. Demp is pitching well. 1 ER
  5. Dempster can't hold on to a bat while taking practice swings...what makes you think that he can even bunt? Len said Dempster once led the league in sac bunt as a starter. Remember, he hasn't had too many ABs over the last 3-4 years. He'll have to work on the bunting.
  6. I don't think Lou is being defensive at all. He's right, he doesn't need to make excuses for every change he makes in the lineup. Some of the questions were ridiculous and had nothing to do with the move (like asking him if its fair to say he's impatient. What the hell kind of sports question is that?)
  7. The Nats are 3-0 with the best record in baseball. I guess they will win the World Series. Nothing more to see here folks; the season is over!
  8. No team is interested in Kenny this early in the season. His age, and propensity to get injured, make him a smarter trading deadline pickup. However, the Cubs don't need him. They need to let Pie play for better or worse.
  9. Try MLB.TV (regular or premium) or just Gameday Audio. Each can be purchased on a monthly basis and you can cancel at anytime. If one or the other does not work you would only be out of $14.99 or $19.99 depending on the level of service you purchase.
  10. 1. Better than it looked in my opinion (Pie cost him a run with his high throw home and the defense cost him extra pitches today) but there is obviously room for improvement. 2. Suckage. Hopefully a return to his favorite spot will get him going. 3. He's in the division now so it was bound to happen. The Cubs will get him back on the bases eventually. 4. In fairness, they haven't had too many opportunities. They will burn him eventually 5. Fuk won't strike out too many times, IMO, so it was worth it to me. 6. People are frustrated and a bit annoying... 7. I can't disagree with this at all. 8. True dat. I thought he looked good until, well, he started sucking with 2 outs. 9. It's Opening Week so they are staying traditional. I'm willing to bet that Z will wear the blue tops in his next start.
  11. Only if the season ends tonight. :)
  12. Good. It's a lot harder to get Theriot either down in the lineup or out of the lineup if he's batting leadoff, where Lou feels he doesn't have many options. Lou has plenty of guys he likes in the 2 spot, so if Theriot is bad for another couple of weeks (I realize he wasn't bad today, but his combined 2 games are) it will be much easier to move him to either the bottom of the lineup or the bench. I wonder if Soriano complained to make Lou do it this soon? I was wondering if he would after seeing his comments about needing to make a big adjustment to handle hitting with runners on base more often. At the rate Lou is going, Soriano and Fukudome will likely be the 1-2 hitters by the end of April. Of course, that all depends on one of the bottom of the order hitters proving to Lou that they can protect Ramirez. I doubt Soriano said anything. Judging by Lou's response today, and his previous comments about Soriano, I think he just feels Alfonso is best suited hitting first. Lou also mentioned that Sori is running better (by extension I will assume that they will expect him to run because a reporter asked about the Cubs' running game...)
  13. Lou said, in the postgame press conference, that Soriano will hit leadoff tomorrow and Theriot will bat second.
  14. You're an idiot. How is this acceptable? Attack the post not the poster. This is a thread of sarcasm no need to get nasty.
  15. I remember a time when Hawkins struggled and we had the same type of threads. As a matter of fact, all closers get this scrutiny. Hello, yesterday was the first game of the season. People were willing to give Hawkins the benefit of doubt initially because he had been a lights out set-up man. However, LaTroy was horrible for a prolonged stretch so fans, and media, were justified in constantly raking him over the coals. He's also most famous for popping off to the media by telling them "I can do what you do but you can't do what I do..." He deserved everything he got.
  16. christ, i thought today's game was bad enough...no need to hit the panic button so quick and are you REALLY prepared? Amen. This isn't really an issue of the Cubs "injury reports." Z has had this problem on an off for the last few years. He needs to be drinking more water/sports drinks before and during his starts. Nothing more.
  17. *yawn* I guess these threads are going to pop up every time Kerry gives up runs. Whatever.
  18. Nah, get off that thing, there are 161 to go in the regular season.
  19. Would have loved to have won this game but the bigger story is Fukudome! It's obvious to me that he was pulling the wool over everyone's eyes in Spring Training with all those pathetic infield squibs. Maybe Ichiro told him to fake it so that they couldn't get the good scouting report to start the season. That dude can hit!
