  1. I don't disagree with your statement, but a high on-base player with more traditional leadoff characteristics is certainly lacking at the top of the order (the one that takes the most at-bats, if you will). Pierre was just a different animal. He's just a ****** baseball player, with no skills.
  2. Offense is what we need and that's what Fuk lacks. Even if that was the case, Pie fits that mold and is a true center fielder. You can't be that dense and pretend leadoff is not a need (call it whatever you want). Adding a table-setter takes Soriano out of that slot and makes him more valuable as well (whether as run producer or less of a cancer at the top).
  3. Marshall can't go anywhere, especially with Dempster's pending FA status and Rich Hill's head still a mystery. Nevertheless, Marshall does not hold the trade value to bring us anyone of significance to put us over the top. We're better off hanging on to him.
  4. I know what DeRosa brings but I also don't expect him to keep it up. Conversely, Soriano's abominations yet productive bat can be best swallowed in the infield. It's not going to happen, but would free up a corner outfield spot to go after a proven veteran with post-season experience and proven leadership (like Manny still was at the point he was being shopped around). We do not have the talent to acquire needs via trade, so the new owner must keep ponying up and going for the free agents. Furcal would fill two huge needs (SS and leadoff). I don't know what the other OF would be.
  5. You're saying DeRosa is a more valuable hitting asset than Soriano? And replacing Soriano in LF with similar prodcution would in turn not make us a better team? I know it's a pipe dream anyways since Soriano will never be put back in 2B, but above and beyond a more valuable player at 2B than as a corner outfield. Just admit it.
  6. Here's some things I'd like to see happening: * Soriano will not under any circumstances stay in the leadoff spot. More so, I hope he takes ground balls from here until March and moved back to 2B. * DeRosa's career year was just that. He should be relegated to a super-sub role. * We need a new shortstop (Furcal would solve two huge problems) and two corner outfilders with post-season experience and leadership qualities (can't believe the man that came back to kill us could be had year after year after year - Manny Ramirez). * Marquis and Howry should be left for dead in LA. Thoughts?
  7. Lads, it was a good season. It didn't break our way in the end. Enjoy whatever it is you do the rest of the way.
  8. I was going to post "I want Furcal" and then he dropped the grounder. What the heck.
  9. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
  10. Hilarious! Same here as the missus has a cold and kept coughing. Midway through the 5th I said "just go to bed would ya". Cold leftovers for me going forward. Thank you Chicago Cubs.
  11. The only thing that keeps me from truthfully killing myself is the Rays owning the Sox. As long as that stays on course, I'll be able to get through the winter unscathed. I swear to geezus almighty though, I'm done spending to go to Wrigley.
  12. Anyone that goes, especially after this performance, is an insufferable masochist.
  13. Martin is being money this series. Pretty Garvey-esque.
  14. Is Furcal's contract up after this season?
  15. Dero's HR, ftw True, true. I'd forgotten about that gem.
  16. DLee showing emotion slamming bat and helmet on the ground. Best Cub moment in this series if you asked me.
  17. What a god awful lineup. How did we possibly have the best offense? Seriously? Harden is doing his thing. For now.
  18. DeRosa, please drive him in. For the love of geezus, please drive him in.
