While what you've said is spot on, I would not trust this guy pitching the 9th in a playoffs series. Just my opinion. UPDATE - Lou just said nothing will change regarding Dempster and his role. He'd come right out tomorrow should there be a save situation. I'm through with this thread.

Tonight was the last straw for me. While the Cards not only started hitting him but Howry as well, Dempster just seem to lose his mojo after the first sign of adversity. Howry and Dempster's roles should be flipped flopped. Yea like he lost it in Houston after they had a guy on 3rd with nobody out, and we lost...oh wait we won that game. You take a lazy approach to my statement hoping to validate your angle, when in reality he lost one game and almost blew the next one (allowing a single, triple and giving up a walk - bailed out by a one-pitch grounder and two-pitch double play grounder to "win the game").

Other than the obvious like Zambrano getting his stuff together and Soriano and Ramirez coming back fully and staying healthy, what are these overlooked qualities this team possesses that haven't been maximized? My one: Matt Murton. Whether is RF against RHP or LF against LHP, Murton is showing this month (.359/.595/.954) what he can do when he plays consistently. Guess whose career numbers these are? (.362/.446/.808). Indeed. Additionally, Murton's consistent approach should encourage Lou to move Soriano down the order. Theriot + Murton at the top of the order seems to me would be as effective if not more than what we've seen. A lineup with Soriano, Lee and Ramirez following those two, with Jones, DeRosa and Kendall is at least the best we can offer top-bottom. Let's hear it.

Agree. If anything, Fontenot takes over to 2B when DeRosa moves to the outfield due to Jones piss poor bat. Also, I think Lou will try Pagan against LHP to try to ease Pie back in as a regular. Lastly, Theriot looks like the more consistent out there out of all players that have been shuffled around, so he's not going to sit for Cedeno. The issue of course is that leaves them with no backup shortstop. Teams rarely go without a backup shortstop. You're correct. Edited a bit too slow.
