  1. FYI, keep it on CSN as the White Sox-Mariners would switch over to CSN+
  2. Thank you. Just caught Floyd's moonshot on Baseball Tonight. :)
  3. Pardon me for joining the party late. Anyone care to provide a quick recap of how the 4-run scoring in the top of the 7th took place? Can't find any boxscore because of the delay. Much appreciated.
  4. I was referring to Jones all along. If I may word it correctly, "his bat does not compensate for Floyd's power or Murton's OBP, his hits come in meaningless situations and his arm is as accurate as my 3-year old peeing in the potty". I'm one advocating to see Murton play regularly.
  5. I said meaningless situations (didn't I?), which implies lack of production as mostly a middle of the order hitter. Jacque Jones is hitting to the tune of .188/.350/.188 with runners in scoring position, with a torrid .176/.176/.176 when the team needed him the most (5th slot, sample size be damned). In addition, he's dead last amongst starting NL right fielders in RBIs, total bases and extra base hits, and next-to-last in RBI chances and OPS (zero HRs) - all this to a player that shouldn't be a starter in this league, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Randy Winn. If it wasn't for that hit with the bases loaded against the Cards, he'd have been hands down the worst hitting outfielder in the majors with more than 80 plate appearances.
  6. Maybe, though no significant improvement (Saber heads, can you corroborate?) can be attested since he hasn't produced at all in the middle of the lineup yet. I like Pie's upside and speed at the bottom of the order. Let alone the circus playing Soriano, Jones and Floyd together can be.
  7. vs RHP vs LHP C Barrett 6 Barrett 5 1B Lee 3 Lee 3 2B DeRosa 7 DeRosa 7 3B Ramirez 4 Ramirez 4 SS Theriot 2 Theriot 2 LF Soriano 1 Soriano 1 CF Pie 8 Pie 8 RF Floyd 5 Murton 6 Why Lou? Because Jones should be on the bench. His bat does not compensate for Floyd's power or Murton's OBP (yet his hits come in meaningless situations) and his arm, while appears stronger this year, is as accurate as my 3-year old peeing in the potty. Thoughts? edit: How do you post tables by the way?
  8. Theriot >>> Izturis? No offense to >>> but I think it does no justice as to how much more valuable Theriot is over Izturis. Quite frankly, Izturis is the Paul Bako of shortstops. An absolute waste of a roster spot. I predict this guy will be out of the league in no more than three years, unless Jim Hendry and Dusty Baker reunite again to destroy another team. Speaking of which, how on earth did the Cubs end up with Neifi Perez, Cesar Izturis, Boom Boom Bynum and John Mabry on the same team. Jim Hendry, what a lucky lucky LUCKY bastard. But I digress.
  9. Indeed. However, his comments as quoted by Branedon could have been constructed (as they were) by anyone as the lineup he preferred going forward. This thread has served its purpose. Points taken.
  10. Fair enough.
  11. Not necessarily. He's started in RF as well - in case Jones is the one off to the bench.
  12. Show me those sources. I'm a Tribune subscriber and I didn't see that in today's paper. Neither did I read about it on the Sun Times online. I've only seen it on cubs.com
  13. It's a matter of days before Floyd and/or Jones play themselves out of the lineup - a la Izturis. Weep not for Murton.
  14. Is it just me, or has Lou done a whole lot of "say one thing, do something else"? Maybe he implied to keep playing most of the same, but not the exact same lineup - and especially not Tuesday's. Speaks volumes about the kind of material Carrie puts together.
  15. Folks, While it stinks Floyd and Jones keep getting troted out there every time out, this by all means underscores the biggest issue this team faces is being addressed - a true black hole in the lineup. Moving Theriot to SS and batting leadoff (heck, unless he goes 0-for-6, 5Ks and 3 errors) is the biggest management change on the Northside since Dusty Baker was in 'charge'. I can survive another week of Jones and Floyd in the OF as long as I don't ever see Izturis on the field ever again. I'll drink to this.
  16. Theriot at SS, regardless of what goes on with any other position shifts today, would be all indication I need to see that Lou is really catching on with the SS situation.
  17. Dang you....I saw this and thought it was the actual line-up. For about 3 seconds I thought Lou finally did something good. hey....if the post above is true and Theriot is playing at SS I think we're moving in the right direction... How did this take a life of its own? The above lineup is NOT the official lineup. Is it?
  18. Daily set lineup, yes. But, did he specifically say it was the lineup he fielded on Tuesday?
  19. What and where's the source? Please say you're not kidding.
  20. From Cubs.com: Piniella has been using several different lineup combinations in an effort to learn his players. He said he will likely stick with Tuesday's lineup. It featured left fielder Alfonso Soriano leading off, followed by Felix Pie in center, first baseman Derrek Lee, third baseman Aramis Ramirez, catcher Michael Barrett, right fielder Jacque Jones, second baseman Mark DeRosa and shortstop Cesar Izturis. Is this a case of Lou Piniella actually planning to play Tuesday's lineup going forward or Carrie Muskat doing what she does best by writing a turd of an article?
  21. I'm starting to lose my patience on Lou. It's unforgivable the fact that Theriot has sat two games while he keeps troting out Izturis and Jones consistently. We need a spark and Riot is the man for that. If it can come in the form of replacing Izturis, I'd hang on to the littlest hope I have left in me. And for the love of Jesus Christ, Murton better be in today in place of anyone else he's been 'stuck' behind.
