  1. So you'd rather have Howry face the middle of the order? Exactly...he gave a HR to Russell Branyan for Christ's sake. I'd rather Howry not be on the rubber in a cubs uniform ever again If only we could convince Jim and Lou of that...................
  2. Where you been??? I haven't felt good about this game since the 7th (or after Mike Quade's brain falling out his butt [again!] & just after Lilly gave up those 3 runs in his last inning of work).
  3. Everyone keeps defending him, but Daryle Ward has done about as much the Cubs this year as Bob Howry has. Plz tell me you are working on deals for BP and bench help, Jim!!!!!!!!! :beg:
  4. With the heart of the order coming up for the Beerdrinkers, this is probly over. Ward most likely does something really weak here... plz make me look like azz here, Daryle!!
  5. Why does everyone keep blaming Bob Howry?? Its not his fault he's still a Cub or is CONTINUOUSLY used in big situations in big games.
  6. I know it is way too much to ask, let alone assume... but if Howry get's through this inning without giving up a run............ 7th - Howry 8th - Shark 9th - Marmol ?? -------- or -------- 7th - Howry 8th - Marmol 9th - Shark ?? I would suggest other guys, but remember, this is Lou we're talking about here.
  7. Depends. You saying we gotta win 4-3, or it could be any score as long as we win by a run? If you're saying 4-3, I ain't no fool!
  8. Sad thing is, it could (and maybe should) be at least 5-3 right now. Thanks Mike Quade. Signed, Everything Cub (including fans)
  9. I hate you Lee. Totally soapdropping luck that happened... that was a tailor-made GIDP. You owe Reed Johnson (& Rickie Weeks) a month's worth [each!] of the finest dinners he can think of, for making that happen!!
  10. DLee, you could really make me forget about your run for the GIDP record here with a LeeSlam. Plz think about it, TY!
  11. These ump are letting alot of stuff go. Theriot was upset at 1st, Hart upset at 3B, and now Hall upset about the safe call. All 3 showed the ump up in each case. Rob Drake these guys aren't.
  12. How in the WORLD did Soriano get a piece of that?! wow.
  13. TY, Bill Hall! We better find a boatload of offense here before Howry douses Miller Park with gasoline.
  14. You get you wish. Howry. I'd rather leave Lilly in to throw 150 tonight. :cray:
  15. What kind of blackmail stuff does Quade have on Lou, cause that guy has been HORRIBLE in big situations at 3B coach. That's TWICE in less than a week he's got DLee nailed at home on plays that weren't even close to being advantageous to the Cubs.
  16. 4 straight non-strikes to open the game........ #-o
  17. Long season, Cubs still have a decent shot to secure the NLC & HFA for the NL playoffs... Oh wait, I'm what's rationally labeled a "idiotic pessimist". But Cubs still win this one, 6-4... after leading 6-0 going into the 8th, we will be entertained by yet another BP "heart attack special" over the last 2 Fish half-innings
  18. Howry's just in a rough stretch. He'll pull through. Just like the Cubs as a team. Just gotta take our lumps (and losses) until the ship rights itself. You don't just take your lumps when you have a one game lead. This isn't just a rough stretch. I was being facetious. Howry shouldn't pitch unless we have - at least - an 8-run lead.
  19. Howry's just in a rough stretch. He'll pull through. Just like the Cubs as a team. Just gotta take our lumps (and losses) until the ship rights itself. Was that supposed to be your impression of Lou? I don't even think Lou is dumb enough to put him in an important situation for a little while at least. It's obvious he has little to nothing right now. Please don't prove me wrong Lou. Nope. Just tired of being labeled an "idiotic pessimist".
  20. And we aren't? Dude seriously, it's easy to bag on a team that is in a slump and easy to pump up a team when they are playing great. The fact remains is the Brewers and the Cubs are two very good ball clubs and they will be battling all summer long. Get used to it. With only two months remaining and the lead we had built being virtually completely gone, the fact that we are a very good team now means a lot less than it did a week ago. A great team needs all six months to separate themselves from the pack. If they fail to do it, they risk being beaten by a slightly inferior team over a small sample. That's a position I never wanted to see this Cubs team put themselves into. Before today we were 5-5 in our last 10 games. It's not like we are losing 10 games in a row. It just so happens that the Brewers have been tearing it up. The Brewers are not going to keep up this pace and we will play better. We still have the best record in the NL, it just so happens that the Brewers have the 2nd best record in the NL. We just got to ride it out. Did you really believe we would keep up the frantic pace we set in the 1st half of the year? Very much likely to happen, but all conjecture at this point. Just like the Cardinals, they very well may fall out of the NLC and WC races, but they might not either. Only time will tell.
