  1. The argument that he has greater resources to deal with this so he has less of an excuse than the average person is so so stupid. What do you think is a larger gap between him and the average person? 1. Resources for treating the addiction 2. Opportunity to fail and exposure to people/people situations that would test his resolve Theo = clueless
  2. not a chance
  3. Willie Mo Pena, Jason Isringhausen
  4. 2 things: 1. for the guy who says he's proud of the board is it because the OP isn't getting bashed by multiple posters? 2. all the McRae talk reminds me of the time my girlfriend and I were sitting in the bleachers for a game that he was playing (cf). After the game he was in Murphy's. I said hello to him and said, "(girlfriend), this is Brian McRae." She said, "It's nice to meet you, did you and (my husband) go to H.S. together?" Brian and I just laughed. I've seen a number of coaches/players out and never approached one before or since. I really don't care too much what they have to say and I'm sure they care even less about what I have to say. edit: I did go out with Randy Myers 1 time. It was me, my friend, my friend's sister (Marla Collins), and a friend of hers. I rememeber two things about that night. Randy wore sweatpants out to the bars and he told me that nothing beats playing in NYC.
  5. Sounds like a very reliable source. No it doesn't - but I'm sure many on these boards would like to hear it anyway.
  6. There's a guy on the espn boards who said he heard on Tampa radio that Garza has been traded for Cashner, Lee and one of the catching prospects.
  7. Considering a lot of contracts are coming off the books after this upcoming season, this isn't a huge deal. It's $5 million more to spend this season, and $5 million less to spend next season... but Aramis, Kosuke, Silva, Samardzija, and Grabow will be off the books in 2012 with big money going to only Zambrano, Soriano, and Dempster. Sacrificing $5 million next season shouldn't be much of a burden That's $5 million less to spend in a season in which we probably hope to be more competitive *and* have more holes to fill. They'd still have $40M coming off the books even counting this $5M payout in January.
  8. I just looked at Cook's stats and his salary and it's awful. He's due over $9m next year and he has a 1.5 WHIP. He's really effective against right handers but no so much against lefties. He reminds me of Jon Leiber. Pass on that one. Maybe they'd give up Seth Smith, doubful but maybe.
  9. They were talking about the Rox acquiring Theriot on the radio here in Denver this morning. They thought it would be Aaron Cook straight up for him. The announcers seemed to think that was a good deal for the Rox but not enough to put them over the top. I hope the Rox GM feels the same way.
  10. I just cancelled my MLB.TV subscription I don't even get mad any more about this, I'm just bored with them
  11. strikeouts don't matter an out is an out I'm assuming that's sarcasm, because in this particular case it's certainly not the same. Definitely tongue-in-cheek - a little ribbing for those that subscribe to that theory
  12. Haven't read any of this thread but - anyone who says that Dempster isn't worth 12M a year doesn't understand the economics of bball
  13. Isn't someone going to make a comment about sunk costs?
  14. Hopefully when he comes back they send Zambrano to the bullpen :pig:
  15. There's never been a pitcher who was so good at missing bats that had such a hard time missing bats. He puts up some wacky lines, that's for sure. i was just kidding, gameday was wrong about him getting out of the inning. he issued two more walks and was taken out. his final line was 3.2 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 8 K, 1 HBP, 90 pitches/52 strikes. that's one bad thing about harden, he's so tough to hit and his control is always marginal, so his pitch count is always going to be high and that leads to a taxed bullpen. that and he gets hurt all the time. One more year like last (and it looks like it will be this year) he'll be a reliever. How many years did Texas give him?
  16. It looks like the PeachtreeTV broadcast has only one camera working. You can only see the batter, catcher and ump nothing else.
  17. Didn't mlb.com have free audio for spring training last year? I seem to recall free video too.
  18. Okay, let's leave the realm of reality. How about DLee MB and Miles for Helton and Hawpe. Sure would solve that balanced line-up "problem" the cubs have. Of course this would add about $20M to the cubs payroll over the next 2 years. Fukudome Helton Ramirez Hawpe Soriano Soto Fontenot/Baker Theriot
  19. How about Bradley for Chris Young (AZ) He's great against lefties, a very good defender and has $25M through 2013 It would also free up $11M over the next two years too. I'm not sure if AZ has given up on him yet as he's only 26.
  20. An IBB for Hill - Cooper is a bad manager
  21. Why wouldn't they give Taguchi a shot in this situation?
  22. I didn't realize Sandoval was considered a rookie. If that is true then the ROY race is over.
  23. They should bring in their 2nd lefty from the bullpen
  24. That'd be the best alignment every time Blanco and Theriot play. So you don't subscribe to the theory
