    Has to be Wood's HR in game 7 of the 2003 NLCS. Given the angst left over from the previous night and the fact the game had already gotten off to such a lousy start - to be right back to even was pretty incredible. From what I could tell on TV, the crowd's collective catharsis from the frustration of the previous 24 hours made it more memorable than the Sosa HR to tie up game 1.

    So in a prospects-for-veteran post-deadline deal, you'd tend to see lower level prospects traded, right? You'd never see the top blue-chip prospects that are already on somebody's 40 man roster, because they would be claimed immediately? Or is there some other loophole that would allow this to happen?

    Just tried to check out his game log on BR to see if there were any hint of sanity in the decision to keep running Miles out there. Predictably, I found nothing. However, I noticed that he finished 4th in RoY voting 2004 - above Matt Holliday! He finished that year with an OBP of .329 and a SLG of .368. How in the hell did he get those votes???

    Yeah, and unless Seattle can get him extended, he'll hit free agency entering his prime at 25. That will be a monster contract. How old was Z when he got is current deal?

    Yep, especially the break on that last K to Bell (I think that's who it was).

    why? I happen to think it was better. 20k games have been done 4 times by 3 pitchers, perfect games 18 times. Also the only hit in Woods game was a slow hit grounder just out of the reach of the SS. That bit of bad luck (where the ball was hit) was the only thing separating his game from a no hitter (or perfect game. I can't remember if he walked anyone) No walks, and it is pretty clear to me that Kerry's performance was far more dominant. It took a ridiculous play just to save the shutout yesterday, whereas hardly anyone could even put the ball in play vs Kerry. Having said that, pitching a no hitter and a perfect game in your career is damn impressive. Props to Mark, but I still think Kerry's game was better.

    At this point its gone beyond a slump. It might just be a super long confidence draining slump that might take an offseason of recovery to get over. He might snap out of it tomorrow. Who knows. I don't think it's eroding skills though unless he's 3+ years older than he says he is. Playing hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrt. Right, if it were a case of eroding skills and age, I doubt he would have had the strong first month he had. Has to be an injury, and I really wish they would stick him on the 15 day DL.
