  1. 20/20 hindsight is grand, isn't it? ...especially after less than 1/4 of a season.
  2. Does anyone who seriously follows the Cubs religiously browse cubs.com? I think it's funny that Muskat was irked by the email about the blue jerseys and then follows up with answering the Las Vegas question. Hilarious!
  3. Whitesox fans Sounds like a good idea to me.
  4. Wuertz ain't no ROOGY, Lou. Don't do that again.
  5. I think I brought up Pagan. No, he's definitely not on the same level as Pie defensively. But the only difference between Pagan and Pie to the ML club is defense. Both have speed. Both have mediocre offensive production at the ML level. I just don't see how defense in CF is worth wasting Pie's service time. He needs to be working on hitting lefties and taking walks. Pie couldn't hit lefties in the minors. Major league lefties are going to destroy him.
  6. Guzman might be "overrated" if you look at his ceiling several years ago and his production to date. Injuries will do that. I'm just happy he didn't flame out like a ton of pitching prospects do after a couple physical setbacks.
  7. You're acting as if that was a standing agreement the Cubs always had to be in-line with. They didn't have to come to that agreement. And they could have done a better job scouting him, to find out themselves that Hamilton was ready to turn things around. Knowing how early their pick was, they could have done so on their own. Why would the Cubs be scouting an OF in the Rule 5? Edit: And when Hamilton puts up 2 full years of decent numbers, then I'll call him legit.
  8. We started Pie's arbi clock so he could ride the bench? Awesome. We needed him b/c we didn't have a legit CF (IMO, Jones does a serviceable job)? That's just poor roster management. Pagan would give us all the offensive production Pie has (not much) and the speed for pinch running. There was no reason to bring Pie up this early.
  9. Well, the scouting director who bagged on Wieters probably isn't Wilken otherwise it would be worded differently and the Cubs were interested in Wieters a short while ago according to Jim Callis. I don't get the Ben Davis comp as they aren't remotely similar statistically. Davis was a HS pick and Wieters is in college. I guess they were similar in body type. At least Davis stuck behind the plate, even if he did suck offensively.
  10. Well, the arm used to belong to Abe. Seriously - the hand belongs to some zookeeper in Thailand. They tranquilized the croc and sewed the zookeeper's arm back on.
  11. he said since he came back last year, not this year. Do I still have to eat an alligator? The gator misread your post. * I'll remove that if it's too graphic for some people, but it was all over network tv. ** And that's a croc, not a gator.
  12. I wasn't aware that Rothschild gave him that book and set him up with a sports psychologist. I thought all that was before 2005.
  13. He and Lou must have been comparing notes before the game.
  14. Keep that hair growin' Demp. whatever works, buddy.
  15. Absolutely. somebody get cordero a map.
  16. Just one. His wife. But I bet she gets one heck of a workout.
  17. At least he didn't ground into a double play.
