  1. Quade isn't shy about sending runners? What team have you been watching, Plesac?
  2. right on his throwing shoulder. I think it was on his left shoulder.
  3. You're damn right brother. "Irregardless" is like saying "de-caffeine-free" fixed
  4. I'm curious to see how Floyd does. I hear that he's been raking in BP.
  5. at least it's in the dictionary: http://www.bartleby.com/61/84/I0238400.html Irregardless, it's still improper usage. :D It's called the modern English language. Get on board or get left behind. so you're saying the proper usage is irregardless? No. I'm saying it's like "ain't" or any one of the many other words that wouldn't make it into a college essay but is used all the time in informal speech. The last time I checked this was a message board, not a term paper. Acronyms and slang are thrown around here all the time. Is "irregardless" proper English? Of course not. But it's part of the modern English language, like it or not.

  7. You've been listening to Lou too much.
  8. Marquis will be fine. When Tony the Tigress left him out there to dry, it really shattered his approach. I think Marquis has even said he was trying to be too perfect and was very conscious of his ERA (after it ballooned thanks to those couple starts) instead of just pitching like he should. Add to that his mechanical flaws - why Duncan didn't fix them I don't know as they were fairly obvious - and you get a 6.02 ERA. I wonder if the Cards just gave him the cold shoulder last season b/c his problems were very fixable (not throwing downhill for one). He sounds like a very hard worker to hear Rothschild tell it. Was there a personality clash with Duncan/LaRussa?
  9. This was in the papers a few days ago, IIRC, but irregardless, it's great news. 8-)
  10. cool, just don't move in.
  11. Maybe CF in Iowa. He's not going to make big league club.
  12. It must be steroids, b/c it couldn't possibly be the Giles collision or the Hawpe line drive off the elbow. If he was on steroids, he'd probably have healed quicker.
  13. Seriously, Lou is awesome. Dusty would have decided on Z/Lilly/Marquis/Miller/Prior already.
  14. The fact that Guzman hasn't had the success at the Major League level is what scares me with giving him the nod over Prior. In today's game his success was against guys that probably won't even make the Royals team. If you take that into account he really didn't do anything all that great. Don't get me wrong he can pitch and may be a better option then Prior but lets see what he can do against Major League talent before we anoint him as the #5 guy. If you have 3 plus pitches you can do just fine in the major leagues. A 95 mph fastball with movement, plus changeup, and plus curveball are good enough to rate you as a #3 starter or better. Will he stay healthy? I haven't the slightest, but his stuff makes Cotts, Miller, and the current incarnation of Prior look like high schoolers.
  15. Actually starting out in the pen might be a way to keep Guzman's innings down this season. He still has to prove that he can hit 180+ IP w/o a problem. The stuff is back, but I'm not convinced that he won't suffer another injury if he isn't handled gently.
  16. I agree with your assessment, Tim. Gooz threw the changeup twice by my count, both times out of the zone. I will have to go back and watch again to make sure as I was not really looking for that.
  17. Moore will probably be at 3rd and his isn't too hot with the glove either. They've got Hoffpauir at first though, and he's pretty good. It is HoffPOWER, not Hoffpauir. 8-)
