  1. I agree; he's not paid to be an on base percentage guy, he's paid to hit dingers and drive in runs; this season he's been a colossal waste of $ What does that mean, exactly? He's paid to be productive. He hasn't been, but this kind of argument is silly.
  2. It's amazing how many people want this. Man, you must be misinformed. You know what happened when Brenly was the manager in Arizona? They won the World Series. See that World Series ring?!
  3. Can we send Samardzija down sometime soon?
  4. My money's on the Giants. Sabean liked Rios so much he almost traded Lincecum for him.
  5. A team has claimed him, and if the Jays accept that, he'll be leaving Toronto, bloated contract and all. No word on the team.
  6. Would you really be furious we didn't give a guy with zero velocity a chance? There are plenty of guys out there who are effective than throw 88mph. Not to mention how bad our bullpen is. I think the guy has enough upside that he at least deserves a chance to suck. Yeah, but there aren't that many that relied on their velocity who have success after losing it. He's not Trevor Hoffman.
  7. While I haven't followed it much since leaving Australia, Australian cricket was a massive disappointment earlier in the year. I'm sure the Aussies will be happy to have some success against England.
  8. Would you really be furious we didn't give a guy with zero velocity a chance?
  9. You'd be well advised to pay more attention in the future before you falsely accuse someone of making a personal attack against you. are you calling me an [expletive]? I believe that's what NC was implying in not so many words. Low blow, man.
  10. That is easily the best thing I've ever seen.
  11. /facepalm Seriously Der, look up from your spreadsheet and watch the game on occasion, you might learn something. Batting from second to third when you need a single run to win the game. There, that's the only time a non-pitcher bunting could be a good thing. Never ever first to second with a hitter, and that second to third is rare.
  12. If they do, I'll buy you a 5 dollar foot-long! Turkey and ham is a $5, right? Gimme that with lettuce, pickles, oil, and vinegar. No cheese. Italian herbs and cheese.
  13. We're going to win. Calling it now.
  14. Eek. Pat said it best, "the Cubs just aren't playing good baseball tonight."
  15. This isn't ancient history by any means, but it's a cool video; Frank Thomas' first major league at bat. Notice the guy on deck, as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfwp70Bdfy8
  16. It'd be nice if Samardzija could do something to show he belongs on the roster.
  17. What'd he say? He's usually not that subtle about it.
  18. Soriano is definitely one of the worst baserunners I've ever seen. Since his arrival to the Cubs, he's gotta lead the world in times being picked off.
  19. I still have a strange confidence that we're going to win. Not sure why.
  20. http://imagecache5.art.com/p/LRG/10/1073/YIDV000Z/red-sox-celebration--2004-world-series-victory-over-st-louis.jpg
  21. So meaning nothing but a vague allusion to the fact that we're cursed or we'll always choke no matter who is on the roster? Or nonsense similar to that? Okay. Because the Cubs have proven, even one single time, to disprove that? Okay. What does the logo on the jersey have to do with the team on the field? Nothing. This "we can't win because we're the Cubs" garbage should be viewed as nothing more than a joke. Once they actually win, then that line of thinking becomes garbage. Not until. No, it's definitely ridiculous garbage right now. If the Cubs have the best team, they'll probably win most of the time. Sometimes they won't. If you genuinely believe that they can't win because they're the Cubs, and it seems like you do, I really don't know what to tell you besides that's absrud.

  23. Plenty thought the same last year about the Cubs The Phillies aren't the Cubs. Meaning? Meaning just that. So meaning nothing but a vague allusion to the fact that we're cursed or we'll always choke no matter who is on the roster? Or nonsense similar to that? Okay.
