    Northwestern plays Syracuse too? The Orange are working their way through the Big 10 it seems (Illinois this year, PSU and NU next year, etc.) My money is on SU being the next addition to the Big Ten, so consider this their trial run.

    Why do you think Dempster is unavailable. Kasper said he's available earlier and Dempster threw less than Howry did yesterday. Hm, not sure why I was under that impression. Guess I'm wrong, which I'll happily take. Now if Howry can just get through this inning... I don't like the Biggio-Howry matchup very much.

    Wood. The idea of Woody pitching to Berkman and Lee is really scary. I can't see Lou putting Kerry in that kind of situation.

    If Dempster's unavailable, and I kind of assume he is, who is going to get the 9th? I can't imagine Howry will go two innings.

    If he steps on the mound doesnt he have to throw at least 1 pitch? Actually, since the Astros would be using a pinch hitter, I believe Lou is allowed to pull Rich in order to react to the new hitter. Don't quote me on that though.

    You might want to check Eyres stats lately before you act like hes horrible. After his rough start, and demotion to mop up, his numbers are great. I'm aware his numbers lately are excellent, but he's still not a particularly good pitcher.

    Just got back from class... nice outing so far by Rich. Gotta hope the offense can score a few insurance runs, as this one is probably up to the likes of Scott Eyre.

    This is from way earlier in the thread, but I had to address it. As much as Ferentz seems to have a tough time getting the players properly prepared for "lesser" opponents (see Indiana last year, Northwestern every year), this Iowa State team is woefully bad. I'd say the Hawks have next to no real chance of losing the game. The defense looked great against Northern, and absolutely everything was clicking against Syracuse.
