  1. Can anyone find this article? I've heard that he said this on Mike & Mike in the Morning.
  2. We're not going to tolerate accidents? Who say's it was an accident? People with common sense.
  3. I'm not sure how much this has been talked about, but it's interesting. Soriano was more or less an iron man before coming to the Cubs. He hasn't been able to stay healthy since.
  4. Lou looks not pleased in the dugout. I can't imagine he's optimistic about Soriano. Neither am I.
  5. I'd be stunned if that's not broken. Stunned.
  6. God, please be okay Alf. I thought that got his head. Guess not.
  7. Even though I'm no longer in hate Jim Edmonds mode, that was a pretty bad at bat.
  8. The Cardinals are up 6-0? Are you flipping kidding me?
  9. It's much better to take 3-0 leads in the first inning than to give them up.
  10. Can anyone find this article? And furthermore, how reliable is Buster Olney (I'm seriously asking, not making some kind of half hearted sarcastic jab)?
  11. No, most people were saying it was a really good deal. But many also didn't understand why the White Sox would be doing that at this point. Not that it matters. It's not like the same people who think the Sox are legit have to be the people who were questioning the move (or the timing of it) at the time. Given Swisher's age and contract status, I don't think many people on NSBB were questioning the move. He's cheap and will be there for a long time under his current deal. It helps the present just as much as the future. As far as Gavin Floyd, yeah, there's no real reason to be high on him. His BABIP is an unsustainable .207 and his K:BB ratio is awful. He's going to come back down to earth.
  12. Number two seems like the obvious choice to me.
  13. sure if you call batting .230 and getting 36 rbi good ](*,)
  14. Agreed. Even if Cook doesn't continue his current production, he's always been a very reliable starter even before the humidor era began. In both 2006 and 2007 his ERA+ was 116. Before that, he didn't have any full seasons, and I'm not sure if that's because of injuries or something else. Anyone know his history? His BABIP is .283 too. So it looks like he's not getting abnormally lucky either. I'd love to deal for Fuentes and Cook together. What would it cost? Neither figures to play prominently in the Rockies future, so I can't imagine it would be too much. Jose Ceda and Ronny Cedeno?
  15. http://baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=7639 Very interesting article on the Braves that highlights why I consider this to be such an important series. I think Atlanta is one of the best teams we've played this year and it'll say a lot if we can beat them. They're going to explode into the kind of team every number on the planet says they should be soon.
  16. At GWRB they're talking as if he'll be returning at the same time Wainwright will but I don't see where that information is coming from.
  17. What I don't get is why he wants Redding when it's quite possible he's worse than Marquis.
  18. Fuentes is the rare reliever that has shown the ability to be consistently good from year to year. I wouldn't have much issue trading for him so long as it didn't cost much.
  19. I hope Albert Pujols is out for the year but suffers absolutely no long term effects from this. And I hope that he remains happy throughout the rest of his life including this year.
  20. Have the Cubs signed any Cuban defectors before?
  21. Imagine if we were in last place instead of having the best record in baseball. Some people will bitch about the stupidest stuff no matter what. My favorite is the freaking out about Kerry Wood coming in to save a 1 run lead. You'd think he was awful. No...if we were in last place, the fans would be much more apathetic. The difference is, our expectations have been raised, and we hold the Cubs to a higher level than we did in 2005, 2006 or even 2007 at this point in the year. We want to see Geo succeed so badly, because we know his succcess is a central piece to us winning the World Series. Well then, it'd be nice of some people would show even an iota of baseball acuity and post intelligently - identifying that Soto is a ROOKIE. And most ALL rookies have to adjust their game as they develop and as the league gets to know them. Still doesn't explain the people who STILL don't want to see Woody in a one run game despite peripherals that match the best relievers in baseball. That's just idiocy, in my opinion. It's called emotions. Raw emotions. It's why people either love or hate this particular forum. I say tons of crazy things in this forum, but it doesn't mean I believe most of the things I say. What he said.
