  1. absolutely not. if you traded a pick, its just a first round pick - you still get to choose your draft spot. Since this has always been the case, you should have understood that when you traded for a pick. The reverse of the argument is that by choosing the first pick, you are now choosing to pick 32nd - that is also not fair. Since everyone knew the system, I think this is a risk you take. You should have negotiated the draft spot as part of the trade.
  2. You are all aware that we pick our draft spots - no one is obligated to pick in a certain spot just because they traded a pick. This has been the case every year so I would assume only Raisin wouldn't have known that in making trades.
  3. you know, I honestly expected an answer like this. If he could pay for Garciaparra's contract it might be worth it. bah, typical sox fan response.
  4. Wow, I hate that trade with the Mets more than Dusty Baker - why would we want to do that? I would give nothing of value for half a season of Cliff Floyd.

Looks like Chuck is the only one missing.
  9. that really makes no sense. nine pitching spots are already set. the defense could stand to improve but where? SS? CF? Didn't we try defense and no offense in those spots? I could live with a defensive CF and SS if we had bombers in left and right I guess.

hitting is far more predictable than pitching - therefore keep hitters and dump pitchers if in doubt. I will be keeping Santana though.
  11. hahaha, rockies tickets go on sale saturday . . . presale tomorrow. Now why do you need a rockies presale?
  12. The last couple of years - in 2003 it was in April. August is better.

I think you'll have enough time.
  14. Blalock hasn't hit away from Arlington (like most of his teammates).
  15. corey to rangers, hank to phillies and abreu to cubs - where's the hold-up? :D ok, we'll kick in hill and harvey too . . .
  16. The rangers really can't afford poor defense in that park.

if we can find worthwhile managers, we would replace them. I'm surprised by the number of people that haven't done anything. and annoyed.

I will check the rosters sometime for compliance. You'll be sitting pretty if we have to contract some teams.
  19. Soriano would be a great way to get worse defensively too!
  20. Please drop your non-keepers tonight or tomorrow.
  21. So you're in a fight. And you keep getting punched in the face. Over and over again. You realize their punches don't hurt that much so you continue to ignore them. Well recently this guy's acquired brass knuckles. So now his punches actually have something behind them. Do you continue to take the punches, or knee him in the balls? How are you going about kneeing him in the balls? You aren't really doing anything to him, its more like he grows breasts due to steroid use.
  22. I can't imagine why the Cubs would want Soriano - the exact opposite of the kind of hitter we need. Because he is the type of player the Cubs seem to covet. don't rub it in - he could add 30 more solo homers to the offense.

  24. Five Chicago Sport Fans Five Chicago sports fans were climbing a mountain one day. Each was a fan of a different Chicago team and each proclaimed to be the most loyal of all fans to their team. As they climbed higher, they argued as to which one of them was the most loyal of all. They continued to argue all the way up the mountain, and finally as they reached the top, the Blackhawk fan hurled himself off the mountain, shouting, "This is for the Hawks!!!" as he fell to his doom. Not wanting to be outdone, the Bulls fan threw himself off the mountain, proclaiming, "This is for the greatest team of the 90's!!!" Seeing this, the Bears fan walked over and shouted, "This is for DA COACH!!!", and leapt to his death. The two remaining fans just looked at each other in stunned silence. After a minute, the Cubs Fan shouted, "This is for everyone on the North Side!!!" and pushed the Soxs fan off of the mountain.
  25. Why wouldn't he be in a club in Denver? I kind of doubt his friends would be speaking french unless he was out with the Avs or something. Anyway, Dempster seems like the type that would just make something up for fun.
