    Week 4

problem solved - I had entered DB Coopers instead of Danger Bees in the matchup with SOS. No one noticed because Todd abandoned the Bees.

that's why I ask you guys to check the schedule! The standings have been messed up this week too though.

good idea - people seem to have forgotten how good guillen is when healthy.
  5. to me, along with jones, he represents the poor decision making by cubs management. its very frustrating. he did start today and my point is that decision by dusty impacted the game more than barrett admitting he was hurt. perhaps dusty should focus more on those aspects of winning games than on what barrett is reading.
  6. I don't understand the bickering, if you disagree state your case instead of making snide remarks.
  7. and the cubs couldn't have done that why? If they knew Barrett was hurt, they would just assume it was a decoy and ignore it at least until he faced a pitch. you don't think the brewers had it figured out? see abucks post above. Well, why did we all know it, why was it reported. I assumed this was because of Barrett answering questions/speaking out? he had an icepack on his hand and was asked why - what is he supposed to say? I seriously don't think this had much potential to affect the outcome of the game so why make a big deal of it? certainly starting neifi hurt the cubs chances to win more than barrett's honesty - maybe barrett should have agreed to read the book if dusty agreed to read bill james. Ohh......... obligatory Neifi reference. what does that mean? Are you discussing the topic or attacking me for bringing up the fact that Neifi is a terrible player?
  8. And a walk. How dare Corey try when his team is already winning? i'm just glad people continue to rag on patterson when he's doing well for another team. he could save 40 babies from a burning building and people would complain that the fire wasn't even that bad by the time he'd saved #34. is he doing well? other than the last two games anyway?

  10. A spectacle?? Baker was asked a question - he answered it. Baker is going to say some wacky things just like Zambrano is going to do some wacky things. I don't understand what all the hoopla is about everytime Baker says something a little goofy(ie. get the skunk out of the boat). nothing else to do. Seriously though, if it bothers you, just ignore it. trust me, what dusty says doesn't keep me up at night.

  13. I don't know that its absurd to hide it - making a spectacle of not hiding it is a bit overboard though.
  14. I think this is legit. It's absurd to hide an injury to "bluff". Why? what were the brewers going to do differently? This is just over-managing. And why would cub fans discuss the cubs and their manager? Weird stuff. On second thought I don't think it is over managing as much as it is over critiquing. if you aren't interested in discussing the issue but only what other people want to discuss, don't read the thread. very simple. I don't really care if the cubs announce it or not. To start talking about war strategy is silly.

  16. is that what this thread is about?

    Week 4

you gotta be [expletive] me! first anderson doesn't tag on a fly that would have wiped out a QS for garcia, and then dye friggin robs kotchman of a 3 run homer. now i'm sure garcia will leave with a [expletive] QS.    He only gave up four hits . . . I have to be leading the league in walks. Hafner score 6.75 last night without a hit! yeah, i saw that. quite a productive 0-1. he only gave up four hits, but he was about six inches from giving up five (not to mention six runs). that could have made things a little more interesting. though i am down a lot more than i thought i was. my offense has done squat this week. 51 rbis last week, 19 this week...ugh. yea, even after Myers start you hadn't gained much ground. You'll have a tough task catching up though it certainly isn't impossible.
  18. sounds like barrett didn't take it too seriously: "Yeah, we went through a little of that. We've got 'em fooled now." Did Baker think the brewers would think he just decided to start blanco again?

  20. I think even a good player can reach a point where his numbers won't recover and he will have a subpar year - that doesn't mean he can't contribute in the remaining games though. Jones is going to have good weeks where he helps this team. Unfortunately, the bad times are likely to outweigh the good.

Stupid Garcia could have put this away but instead he can't throw a strike.
  22. I'm racist for thinking young should be severely punished. mexicans are criminals. this country is going to hell.
  23. you think a season ban is excessive for physically assaulting an umpire with a bat? I think you have to set a standard that if you throw something at the ump, you will be severely punished. Otherwise the next time he might take a swing at the ump with the bat. I don't see how any punishment is excessive - you seem to be arguing that since he didn't try to kill the umpire, he shouldn't be severely punished. I don't follow that logic at all.
  24. What does that mean? If I go drive drunk that doesn't mean I intend to kill someone, but I might.
  25. where'd you find the video? I saw it on ESPNEWS - while he may not have intended to hurt the umpire, where do you draw the line? players should not be assaulting umpires with bats or anything else. I think an example needs to be made.
