  1. Very slim. And that trade you posted will definitely not get him. I think the Braves are more likely to move Thorman and give the 1B job to Salty.
  2. How do you feel about Adam Dunn? I love Adam Dunn. Why do you ask? Are you trying to equate Kyler with Dunn? Just saying he's struck out a lot more times than games played (94Ks in 70 games)...so I guess he's abysmal too. Yeah, but Dunn does this thing called "Hit for Power"
  3. you would really trade patterson for a 30-something RELIEF pitcher who throws in one of the most pitcher friendly parks in baseball? Yes. He is young 30 something, has a very good contract, and before this season, his home and away splits were actually pretty similiar.
  4. Why would we want Greene? We already have SS who can't hit. At least Greene hits for power and plays some legitimately good defense. Don't forget the GRIT factor.
  5. I really got excited when I thought Linebrink was in this deal, I would have even been fine with giving up Epatt to get him.(Considering the Cubs are toying with the idea of moving him to LF and killing his value)
  6. Not really. He has been complete crap so far in the minors. and he's a teenaged player coming from a region where he faced relatively poor competition in high school. I'm not saying he's a future star, but he does have some tools that the scouts like, and most raw 19 year old players would have been playing at short-season A-ball, not the Midwest League. And I also read a little league type field too, somewhere. Cubs scouts vs Padres scouts, I'm gonna go with the Padres...if they are giving up on a first rounder this fast, don't you think they saw something last year that makes them think the odds are against him at the next level?
  7. did lou really say that? Doubt it. IIRC, Barrett was one of the first players Piniella was raving about during ST.
  8. Not really. He has been complete crap so far in the minors.
  9. My girl had a crush on Barrett...so in a way, yeah, I'm glad he is gone.
  10. He and DLee are friends. It shouldn't change anything. I'm guessing he will either have to mail D. Lee a check or send him paypal payments or something. I'm sure they will work it out. :P
  11. Just woke up? I should have been a teacher. But think about the children. Consider the youth of America....could I have really done anymore damage?
  12. I'm surprised he got so specific as to the reasons for trading Barrett. Usually it's more of a "we really liked what he did for us but we like what the new guy does as well". Even though I hate this trade, I really think Barrett is on the downward slope and don't see him making an all star team in the next few years.
  13. btw I think we should have traded for Jason Kendall. Yes he is downright horrible, but Sunnydoo really sold me on the guy.
  14. How does the whole world decide which lucky team will get the Cubs castoffs at 60 cents on the dollar? If you're an owner of some other team do you not ask your GM why he isn't the one ripping off the Cubs? Who knows, but it does disturb anyone else that Jim also seems to be trading with the same three or four damn teams over and over again? Didn't he go with the Fish at least twice (the Pierre deal, Clement / Six Fingers, and Lee), the Tigers twice (Farns and Neifi), the O's twice (Sosa and Patterson), and now SD twice (Williamson and Barret)? I know he sprinkled in deals with the Braves (Cruz), Giants (Hawkins), and both Sox (Nomar and Aardsma), but this patten concerns me greatly. Yes, I've noticed that too. Hendry definitely has his favorites he likes to deal with, usually with teams where he has a history and/or connections. Now with MacPhail in Baltimore, I expect the amount of dealings with the Orioles will go up exponentionally. Or at least it would of if I wasn't confident that Hendry will be gone after this year (he'll quickly land on his feet to become the director of scouting for the O's). So when will Tejeda be a Cub?
  15. I'll take the good Marquis for 300 tonight please.
  16. he didn't write it up - it was a scouting report. I guess to show his athleticism? I understand, my point is why is anybody listing it. It's useless info that tells us absolutely nothing about his ability to play baseball. Speed doesn't slump!
  17. I hate the trade. Complete crap.
  18. Wouldn't it be nice if we had Matt Weiters ready to go by mid 2008
  19. You do realize it's tough to judge NINETEEN YEAR OLD minor leaguers based on stats in Low ball right? Man you are the king of hyperbole. Badger, Nice to see you pop in and add your precious comments to all these threads. That's all you ever do is pop in complain about someones post and leave. You're adding nothing to this thread. The fact is, and get this one right OK Badger..The fact is that your 19 year old prospect is currently terrible. Does that mean he will be always this bad? Who knows but so far it hasn't been great for him. This is the first transaction thread I've posted in in over year buddy. Nice try. But your negativity and general managing expertise is like clockwork, like the sun rising and setting. All I'm saying is to call him abysmal is hyperbole. I don't like this trade either, but lets see what we got first. It's not like he's a 23 year old low ball player. He's 19. There are many 19 year olds who seemed blah who have developed into solid ballplayers. Maybe the change will be good for him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Dontrelle was a throw-in a low A ball player that you would have said was "abysmal" when he was 19 and how did that turn out? I'm not encouraged by his numbers, but the word abysmal for a 19 year old still developing IS hyperbole. That being said, I agree with you that Hendry sucks. Probably not considering Dontrelle was dominating in A ball.

  21. But wait....I read a scouting report that he was good on defense! judging by your posts, you haven't read anything about anyone. don't let that stop you from having overreactions and hyperbolic opinions about everything though Don't worry. It won't. BTW I look foward to this gold glove catcher Bowen, that everyone is talking about.
