  1. I ticks me off that he would bash the young pitchers. Marshall - gave this team a ton of quality starts this year...his ERA is skewed by a few bad outings Marmol - also had quite a few of good starts. Hitting a wall of late Mateo has had a great game, and the last game wasn't great, but he kept his team in the game. Rich Hill has been alot better 2nd time around Can you compare these guys to the Tigers young arms..no. But they have given more to this team than Mrs. Prior and Mrs. Wood have. Or what about the choke job Jerome Williams that was counted on as a #4 starter and couldn't find the plate.
  2. I agree. IMO..its only a matter of time before he is strictly a DH. Its not the like the Cubs have any chance of contending in 07 anways so use this offseason to improve the pitching staff...and give Murton another year in LF. Then after 07 upgrade the OF(Vernon Wells)
  3. Probably the most hated Cub over the past 10 years has to be Todd Hundley. Yes..hated more than Hawkins IMO. I can't post 99% of the stuff I heard fans yelling at him in the stands. Bottom line, Cubs fans are prejudiced against bad baseball..not skin color.
  4. Looks like Dusty just got himself job for next season. Toronto will have no choice but to fire Gibbons this offseason, and they will need to bring in a laid back manager who players love. In walks Dusty.
  5. For some reason..Rusch usually pitches well vs the Cardinals. So that would probably explain the interest from the Mets.
  6. Freddie Bynum's minor league stats are just brutal http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/B/Freddie-Bynum.shtml He has never hit more than 5 HR's in a season. He has struck out more than 100+ times a season 3 different occasions He has never hit for average except once in single A. This guy should not be on any major league roster. He should not play in LF over Murton or Pagan. He should not play at 2B over The Riot. Hell...you are better off calling up Fotentot over Bynum.
  7. Please tell me thats sarcasm
  8. well thought out reasoning. The in-depth analysis is impressive. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=6403 Freddie Bynum's career stats..yeah..he freakin blows. Jim Hendry loves to go Dumpster Diving.
  9. why are the Cubs under the impression that Bynum is good? He freakin blows.
  10. I think Padilla wants to stay in the AL were he can throw at batters at will w/o having to pick up a bat himself.
  11. Tim Wilke...thank god he is running the drafts now. FYI, Tim Wilken thanks. Wilken. Doc Halliday, Vernon Wells. He gets the 1st round right. :D
  12. Tim Wilke...thank god he is running the drafts now.
  13. Does anyone think the Cubs have a shot at Daisuke Matsuzaka? Part of me thinks it is a pipe dream..but the other part of me thinks the Tribune will authorize the 30 million dollar bid as a investment to grow the Asian fanbase for the Cubs.
  14. People can blame the Tribune company all they want..but the fact is that they authorized a 94 million dollar payroll. Jim Hendry had the $$$$ he just screwed the pooch..bottom line. Cowherd is a moron and a dooche.
  15. No it's not going to happen this year, but for all of the naysayers I think there is a possibility that this team could be in contention next year. Probably the biggest reason is that it's the NL Central, but I've said all along that I'm hoping for 1 FA signing (Schmidt), 1 impact bat acquired in a trade involving a package of Murton/Cedeno/Pie, Marshall/Hill/Guzman/Marmol/Mateo, plus other prospects, and our share of luck and health (Cubs are way overdue). It would be great if Miller can stick as #4 or #5 starter. I agree that the Cubs can compete next year, but you are also counting on nobody else making any kind of moves. The Mets will still be the class of the NL. They will be a major player for Zito, IMO. The Cards aren't gonna be happy with this season and I don't think we can count on them settling for mediocrity in LF, RF, and 2B. The Brewers have a lot of young guys that will be a year older, they will have a healthy Sheets and money this offseason. The Phillies will have money. Cards appear to have LF locked down with Duncan. Dude looks like a player.
  16. Let me ask you a question..do you see the Cardinals making a move to re-sign Belliard this offseason?
  17. I still can't fathom the fact that a GM(besides Donuts) would pay 2.5 mil for Neifi and give up a prospect. one man's trash is another man's treasure. ain't it the truth.
  18. The Tigers are picking up his contract. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060820cubsgamer,1,2505538.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines
  19. I was a big advocate for getting Ronnie Belliard this offseason. More than likely the Cardinals will lock him up now this offseason. They ddin't give up much for him(luna) But then again..Belliard has a decent career OBP which probably was a turnoff to Dumpster Diving Hendry.
  20. one can only hope.
  21. I'm a Murton fan...but, I don't care how hard he trained..he would be a nightmare in CF defensively.
  22. Provided you can sign Wells to an extension..you do this deal in a heartbeat. Simply put...(if healthy) Wells will play in 150+ games a season vs. 130+ for Barrett. However, you must go out then and get a leadoff secondbaseman. Luis Castillo would be my choice. This isn't a bad lineup Castillo Murton Lee Ramirez Wells Jones Blanco Izturis A little right handed heavy..you could always move Jones up in the order to break up the righties.
  23. I think Adam Eaton would be a good target.
