  1. Exaclty. The Cubs IMO don't understand the concept of leveraging cheap young players. Exhbit A. Rich Hill - 1st half of the season. Yeah he was getting shelled. But he was still a better/cheaper left handed option than Glendon Rusch. Hill should have remained and Rush, well thats a different thread. Why go out and sign these garbage players like Rush, and Perez when you have cheaper options in the minors that can fill these roles for you
  2. It's my fault. I took the game thread on a tangent.(albeit wasn't much action to begin with) To be honest the fact that Myers wasn't suspended for his actions is beyond me. A better venting place would have been the rant forum. But considering circumstances(a game thread were Myers was pitching) I had the shot, and decided to take it.
  3. Dusty if you are so high on Murton how come you were platooning him all the time earlier in the season. amazing.
  4. Petition to ban people making outrageous claims about Mark Prior. by outrageous claims do you mean: claiming he is the only key to Cubs success or claiming that he will never be healthy and effective again
  5. you forget the PC disclaimer "Not that there is anything wrong with that" but I assure you I was refering to the short italian gal with perfect breasts
  6. I'm gonna defend Sullivan here. You have to understand he is writing these columns with Hendry and Mc.Failures looking over his shoulder. Don't you remember the reports that these two chastized him earlier this year? The lack of clutch hitting excuse has been used by both Hendry and Failure on the radio. Paul knows damn well the OBP ranking is huge issue with this team. So the only thing I can bag on him for is not standing up to the jerks at the the Tribune company. But consider, its a good gig for him. He is probably pulling in close to 6 figures. For that kinda money I would have no problem writing Cubs puff piece articles for the Tribune.
  7. No arguments from me there. He sure has pissed away money over the years. But you figure after 3 years of missing the dart board he has to hit eventually. Hopefully. Would I love a healthy effective Prior? No doubt. I would also love to go out the bar this weekend and take home Eva Longoria. But there is a point where we have to realize the ideal situation just may not happen. Should we give up on Prior? No way. Should we adobt a sink or swing approach with him? No way.
  8. just a little fyi I will continue to not respond to your personal attacks(well I guess this time doesn't count :P ). You have been at this for a while now with me. Keep at it if you wish. I actually kinda get a kick out of it to be honest. Obviously I am getting under your skin. I just don't intend to get into a pissing match with anyone. It's pointless.
  9. Like it or not, a healthy Prior is the key to getting to the postseason and advancing. If our GM has that same philopsophy I will seriously just give up with baseball. I'll find another summer sport to pass time till football. So we are basically handcuffed waiting for Prior to return to 2003 form? Forget that fact that we will have 20+ million to work with via free agency? We are in a pit of baseball hell and our only salvation is dreams of a right hander that hasn't thrown 200 innings in 3 years. Pass me the vodka.
  10. I'm not saying there is hope but if there is I would say: Zambrano continuing his dominance Rich Hill continuing to build on his success. D. Lee returing at an MVP level. Aram returing and continuing his production 20+ million in FA cash Dusty Baker leaving Hendry pulling his head of of his rear end. are the "hopes" at fielding a competitive team.
  11. To each their own I guess. I despise violence against women. Personal Issue to be honest. There is no exuse for his actions. He deserves whatever he gets, so I have no problem labeling him a "wife beater". So you have something against fat people as well then? Yes. They clog up the basepaths.

  13. Do you have to take a personal shot at somebody with every single post? who cares..the guy beat his wife. Thats a fact. he is scum and I have no respect for him.
  14. On the bright side...with Brett Myers throwing a great game it means he will be more likely to go home in a good mood and less likely to beat his wife.
  15. I'm hoping he will take off his panties and pitch in 07.
  16. Seriously with Moore's abiliity to play corner infield spots, (I'll wager he could handle RF if necessary) Its time to say goodbye to John Maybe in 07. Maybe is a nice guy, but has declined to one of the worst hitters in baseball. He should not be on a MLB roster.
  17. I'll take Adam Eaton if the price is right
  18. Did anyone here Lawrence Holmes on the score today about 6:20-6:30 He was whining like a little girl about the Sox. Pathetic. seriously, they got a ring last year, were in it pretty much all of this year, and have an agressive GM that will Fix the rotation and part of the lineup. The Sox will be back.
  19. Question: How can we get Chase Utley in a Cubs uniform?
  20. I agree with ithe idea, but it will be a cold day in hell before the Cubs spend that much $$$$. If fact the Cubs will be out-bid on all 3 players. Zito - Muts Schmidt - Mariners Daisuke - Spankees I think we shoudl over any of those three a 3yr/42 mil deal and then go out and sign Vincente Padiall to 3 yr/ 18 mil. In addition to Daisuke's base pay, he comes with a 20+ million dollar bidding fee. Scratch him off the list. Zito will get over 15/season based on demand. That leaves Schmidt as the most realistic target. I am Padilla fan though. I have been pushing for his signing for some time now.

  22. Is that a horse? or a goat on roids?
  23. I don't understand what they did wrong? The pitching staff went south. Who knew that Buerhle would crumble? Agreed -- IMO KW did a great job making a good team even better on paper this past off-season, but what looked good on paper did not materialize on the field. Maybe the starters threw too many innings last year and just didn't have anything left for this year, maybe the drive to win another championship isn't as strong as it is to win the first, or maybe it just goes to show how many things have to go your way to win it all.... 2005 White Sox = very lucky, 2006 White Sox = not so much luck. BTW -- not saying luck is the only reason they won last year. You have to be a good team for luck to even matter in the equation. Both the White Sox and Red Sox did nothing at the trade deadline and they will both be watching the playoffs this year. Every writer was telling KW to go out and get a starter, but he was confident in his club and it backfired. I agree. Just like in 05, when everyone told him to get Griffey Jr. at the deadline...look how that backfired....
  24. Congrats on your anomoly of a season Sarge Jr. You'll be back to hitting .250 in no time.
