The reaction of the Astros fans is very understandible. For them, the 2005 season was similar to the 2003 season for the Cubs fans. Once a team has been to the "big dance", it's hard to accept not even being invited. The Astros had that surge last year, and have collapsed this year. Sound familiar? Are Dusty and Phil related by any chance?
Meh. The only problem is that the viewers are likely to be exhausted too. Let's see I got up at 5 a.m., CDT, so how many hours of sleep did I get? I got exactly........zzzzzz
Pittsburgh just beat Atlanta 3-2. So after this one in Chicago, they will be only 3 behind the Cubs. I actually thought the Cubs would avoid the cellar.
Forecast high here: 100 +. I have the afternoon off, I know what I'll be doing. But the first game starts at 1 p.m. Is that too early to start drinking? :P
Say. so far this evening the Brewers, Cards, Reds, and Pirates are all losing. How is that possible? Oh wait, noone in the NL Central are playing each other. Geez this division is going to get creamed.
Ahem: What to do during rain delays: 1. Watch History Channel segement on whiskey distilling.(finished) 2. Watch segment on brewing. (just starting) Jeez I am drunk. See ya!
No such luck. No clever puns so far (must wait for Prior to actually win a game) Cubs, Prior go for sweep of host Mets Will Prior last enough innings to qualify one way or the other?
That's what I get for watching the white Sox losing; decided to check in here and discovered I had missed a dramatic finish a la Dempster. So should I stay up to watch the other Sox? I'll just make the coffee extra strong in the morning.
Meh. As long as we're going to expect the worst, why not go all the way? I predict the Mets shut out the Cubs in all of the games except the one Zambrano pitches in; Cubs win that 1-0 due to a Zamrano solo home run.
