  1. Thank you Lilly for at least after your terrible start coming back and pitching 4 shutout innings, retiring the last 10 guys you faced, and striking out 10 on the day.
  2. The Cubs have had 19 baserunners through 7 innings. The Rangers have had 7 baserunners through 6 innings.
  3. To follow up my last post....he is still on schedule to be back tomorrow right? Lou said in the pregame show that they would be glad to get him back tomorrow, so yes, it looks like he's on schedule.
  4. ? He has been having a rough time with 3B of late. Is this really accurate? I'm asking this to anyone...I've seen him bobble a couple of plays, but he's had at the very least twice as many stellar grabs and saves. I think he's looked pretty good and has made some really nice plays. He did have 2 errors but considering he hasn't been there full time you can't expect much more. Also, if you read the story in the papers that error last night wasn't his fault. His eye had a flare up and he literally couldn't see the ball coming. I think his 4-5 fantastic plays have outweighed his 1 error that he's made. I think he'd do fine at SS still.
  5. Just to give Lee a day off while keeping his bat in the lineup.
  6. I don't understand why Lou would try and use any of them every day. Theriot has been as bad as any Cubs hitter has been for the past two weeks. He can't play everyday. He's still better than Isturiz... Not anytime lately. I think Izturis has actually been better since about May 3rd. You might as well play Izturis for a few days, let Theriot get rested and then get him back in and maybe find a way to have another hot streak, because he's doing absolutely nothing to help the team right now.
  7. I think it's only 8 baserunners, and 7 left on base (2/2 in the first, 3/3 in the second, 2/3 in the third).
  8. Is it really Hoye behind the plate? That is awful-he made a terrible call at one of the bases last night too. Yes, he was the guy who had the horrible strikezone early in the season and was nicknamed "Boyd".
  9. two DL stints because of a hamstring issue, and one because of a calf issue. I wouldn't bother with him. The chances that he will remain healthy are low, and when Lou doesn't play him everyday he will be upset.
  10. Not much in the slugging dept, but OBP high as always. Why did Beane release him? Bradley was pretty upset about not coming back and being a starter. He also has been on the DL 3 different times this season and has only played 7 games in between stints (4 games after his first DL stint then went back on the DL for the second time, then came back and played 3 more before getting put on the DL for the third time, and now has come back and played 1 game).
  11. 1. Floyd not in lineup 2. Lee was scheduled to SH today Oops, meant Pagan over Floyd. As for the second thing, I know that he was scheduled to DH, the question is why? Managers seem to think that it's a way of giving a guy a day off without losing his bat from the lineup.
  12. That doesn't sound right. There's no reason to put Floyd at first unless Lee is hurt or Lou is overreacting to last night's error. Lee was supposed to DH today with Ward at 1st. Maybe Ward is slightly hurt, and rather than change his plans for Lee DH'ing Piniella just stuck Floyd at 1st instead.
  13. BTW, Gameday has Floyd at first and Lee at DH.
  14. Makes you wonder if Ward is feeling all right-he was supposed to play 1B today. That's 6 games in a row for Theriot at SS now-not that it really matters, whoever the team throws out at SS is awful anyway.
  15. I would agree with this. At this point, I don't mind seeing Eyre in close games, but those 4 relievers should be the ones who should be counted on. Eyre can come in when one of the setup men have worked multiple days in order to give them a rest.
  16. Just take the word Premium out of the link-it will take you to the same thread in the regular forum.
  17. Scott Eyre was absolutely horrible earlier in the season. Lately though, he's been pitching quite a bit better. Here are the results of his last 6 1/3 innings: 6 1/3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 4 K The question is-when do you start trusting him in any close games? I'm not sure the time is right yet-but I'm just wondering, if he keeps pitching better like this, when is the time that he starts to regain trust?
  18. Yes. I hope Hendry doesn't demand too much for Jacques. At this point, even though I think he will turn it around somewhat, I doubt he will come close to last season's production, or his career numbers. He needs to stop taking up playing time, and since Lou is too hard headed to bench him, he needs to go. Given what we have received in the last ten or so trades, I would not worry about that too much. I alos believe that Lou would bench him if he weren't being told by Hendry, "Showcase him so we can trade him." Of course, letting him play exposes him as well. It was mentioned earlier, but bears repeating: Jacque's swing and approach suck. His hips are way out in front and he tries to pull everything. He rolled over on at least two sliders that I saw last night. Had he gone with the picth they would have been easy doubles down the left field line; both were up in the zone. He tries to swing like Griffey, so the solution is obvious: trade his arse and go and get the genuine article. Of note: I heard on ESPN 1000 this morning that Griffey has agreed to be traded to the Cubs specifically. Can anyone confirm? Somebody on another board I was on said that ESPN first take reported that Jacque might be in a deal with the Reds for Griffey and that Griffey said that "he would love to come and play for Lou again"
  19. That lineup was brutal last night. We better get used to it. The lineup will look a lot better starting on Friday. Aram coming back on Friday? I missed this. You have made me very happy, my friend. Yeah, WGN last night and all the papers have said that Aramis should return Friday. He has been taking fielding drills and batting practice the past couple days with no setbacks. They also said he would probably DH in the Sox series. Good, that's a smart thing to do to ease him back into action, even if it still doesn't produce our best lineup. After the end of the Sox series, I would be asking DeRosa if he can play SS again. Theriot and Izturis have been the exact same player since about May 2nd, and that player has not been a good one. If DeRosa would do that, I don't think our lineup would look that bad: Soriano Pie Lee Ramirez Floyd DeRosa Fontenot Bowen Pitcher Unfortunately, I doubt right now if that's going to happen.

  21. That lineup was brutal last night. We better get used to it. The lineup will look a lot better starting on Friday. But what I don't understand is how Jones keeps getting PT. DH Ward and put Floyd in RF for God's sake. The lineup would look a lot better. Well, to be fair Jones hasn't been the problem the 3 days he has been starting. He is 3/9, with a .333/.400/.555 line over that time. Ward is going to play 1st today and Lee DH, so hopefully Floyd will play RF and get Jacque out of the lineup today. I agree that the lineup will look a lot better with Ramirez (and with DeRosa, who we were missing last night).
  22. It sounds like DeRosa's eye will be fine. He was able to see again after about 45 minutes, so unless they keep him out due to precautionary reasons, he should be in there. We already know that Ward will play 1st today, Lee will DH, and Bowen will likely start.
  23. This one isn't on Marquis right now-he should have only given up 1 so far (in the first). He's credited with 2 ER, but I think he should only have 1 (the DeRosa ball should have been a DP, and even if he only got 1 out, Marquis got a DP on the next batter).
