  1. The problem with Hendry is even though he takes the blame, he doesn't learn from his mistakes. He'll say stuff like "Obvisly, the Tribune Company give me a big enough budget, I just need to spend the money better", then he turns around and signs someone like Jock Jones as his big bat offensive player for 3 years.
  2. How about George? He does have experience working for the New York Yankees!
  3. Hey, that's the name of my blog (more or less).
  4. I thhink I read on the Trib or Sun Times web site that Hendry said Big Z told him that he was OK and could pitch Saturday.
  5. http://www.tcpalm.com/tcp/pro_baseball/article/0,2820,TCP_24442_4815139,00.html If Hendry was eating, that must have cost a fortune. Hope Huseby didn't lose any fingers during dinner.
  6. That leaves Dusty out then.
  7. I think every Cub fan who has tickets to the next 2 games should find a Sox fan to sell them to. The Trib bean counters will still be happy over a sellout, but maybe MacPhail, Hendry and Baker will realize they are losing the "hearts and minds" of Cub fans, to borrow a phrase from Dubya.
  8. He might have needed the Viagra to counter the effect of the steroids.
  9. Maybe not. I thought I had read a few years back he was a former Gold Gloves boxer. Still doesn't make it right what he did though.
  10. I suppose he did save them last year - from having to wait a month to start their vacations.
  11. That line made me laugh. Thanks.
  12. What's really sad about all this is the fact when Hendry was a high school baseball coach, I believe he also taught mathematics. You would think someone familiar with numbers would figure out the value of on base percentage.
  13. Here's another link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-060615tribune-chandler-story,1,1075424.story?coll=chi-business-hed
  14. I read the Trib online everyday, and the "Red Eye" when someone leaves one laying on a seat on the 'L'. Believe me, they're paying for a lot of crap that gets published every day. The Red Eye, IMO, might be the most overpriced free paper in the world.
  15. Serena, thanks for your help.
  16. Actually, if Hendry checked out message boards from time to time, the Cubs would probably be in better shape than they are now. Most of us have watched enough Cub games to recognize good baseball when we see it. Unfortunately, it's usually being played by the Cubs' opponents.
  17. For that matter, how do you post a like to your own blog in your signature area? I've started a Cub blog that I think people might find interesting.
  18. First post here. Given how many times they have picked someone #1 that BA designated as a top prospect, only to see them never make it to the majors, or not turn into much as a Cub (though maybe that's a developmental problem), this guy probably has as much of a chance to be good as anyone else. If anything, we'll see if Wilken is all that Hendry makes him out to be. I guess he put his reputation on the line right away.
