  1. I just watched someone in Andruw Jones jersey bat for Atlanta. This guy weighs 30 pounds less and has a face half the size of the real Andruw.
  2. If I don't make it back later and miss tomorrow, let me take this opportunity to say.... Everyone have a great offseason, take care and enjoy life. Fred, get well and have safe travels.
  3. Is anyone else having as much fun as I am watching the Deadbirds implode? This last week has salvaged the season for me. Cubs-we're losers but not chokers.
  4. Deadbirds lose 7th in a row. Mass suicides reported in St Louise.
  5. Reggie! Reggie! Reggie! (whoops, my bad) Junior! Junior! Junior! Both tied for 10th all-time on the HR list at 563. Another fine outing for the cobs bullpen.
  6. That was a "wild" 9th inning. At least it didn't end on a walk. ONE WEEK OF DUSTY TO GO! Shortest game thread of the year too.
  7. 6 HR in 68 AB; 29 TB Carlos "Babe" Zambrano. He needs to be an everyday player.
  8. Predictions: There will be three rain delays allowing Z to have periodic rests thus allowing him to throw a 471 pitch, 10 walk complete game giving Dusty a chance to rest the bullpen for the stretch run.
  9. The buildup for this game is amazing. We're already on page 2 of the game thread and it's not the 3rd inning.
  10. TB wins today allowing the Cubs to pull within 4 games of the Fecal League championship. Go Cubs!!!
  11. I am soooo proud of my mlb.tv and mlb.tv-mosaic, neither of which work tonight.
  12. Yes, I took the wife for a night on the town, dinner and movie. We laughed out loud on many occasions. She mentioned that at one time or another I had passed through most of the life stages portrayed in the movie. I would suggest you see it, but I'd leave the kids at home.
  13. That's too easy. Game 7 of the World Series; Wrigley Field; top of the 9th; Cubs lead the Yankees 11-2; two outs; none on; Arod hits a weak grounder to Lee who fields the ball about three feet from first base and a meteor hits and wipes out the planet before Lee can touch first base. P.S. Best wishes to the wife for a speedy recovery.
  14. The Apocalypse is surely upon us now that Fred has given up starting game threads, no worthless stats of the day, no PBP and now resignation. Da(ng) you cubs for ruining another year.
  15. Well that Drew smash gave a pretty good view of the ballpark. Looks like the drunk tanks are mostly full, but the grandstands look about empty from the bases to the foul poles.
  16. This thread is about as poor as the Cubs---wrong date, no useless stats of the day, etc. We need to help Fred when he is down, so everyone post a useless stat of the day. Mine: The Chicago Cubs National League Baseball Club Well I guess technically that's not a stat, but it is useless.
  17. The Fecal League race is really warming up although the cubs two wins this week hurt them badly. Cubs are two games ahead of KC and a half game ahead of TB.
  18. Congrats to Texas' Gary Matthews, Jr. who tonight hit for the natural cycle (1B,2B,3B,HR). The 7th AL player to do so.
  19. Dusty will leave Hill in until he reaches 371 pitches to build up arm strength.
  20. There are hundreds of other countries available for you to move to. I'll be delighted to chip in the cost of your plane ticket.
  21. Do you think the players are the least bit embarrassed? Hendry needs to fire Dusty today and manage the rest of the season himself. Go bears!!!! Go Rex Grossman!!!
  22. Fred, sorry haven't read anything by your friend. I have Connell's "Son of the Morning Star"; a book by Custer's wife, Gray's "Custer's Last Campaign";and Scott,et al's "Archaeological Perspectives on the Battle of The Little Bighorn." Oh, I went to the study to look it up, I don't keep titles clogging up my brain. Aw jeez, waste a double this inning.
  23. Leadoff triple.... That's just awful. Fred, can you get the Bears game on sirius or are you stuck with the football gameday?
  24. Unless that was completely random, I assume you have an interest in the topic. I took the family to Montana to see the battlefield several years ago and have numerous books on the Last Stand. One book was written based on the extensive archaeological work done which lays out a very plausible time line. Custer's managerial skills are similar to those of Dusty's.
