  1. If Girardi is not the manager and Kranitz isn't the pitching coach, I'd love to see Orel Hershiser be a pitching coach again...
  2. They do that in Japan! Maybe the Cubs should get a clause limiting computer time for Zambrano.
  3. Go check out this article, Ill just leave the intro to the article. Some Royals-slanted stuff: A connection to a previous article I posted. There's some stuff on Brackman, Doolittle, Price and others in that argue. Doolittle reminds them of Nick Markakis.
  4. I'm on the lefthandedness is largely overrated badwagon. But no big deal. From what I've read, Brackman has a low arm angle, and at seven foot tall he might murder Pujols which is like a personal goal for the Cubs other than winning. Pujols would match up better against Price. Rotoworld on Price
  5. Price is 6'6" it's not like he's David Eckstein.
  6. http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/smokies_baseball/article/0,1406,KNS_329_5033795,00.html nothing to do with this thread, but interesting stuff nonetheless on Chris Colvin and others...
  7. http://www.all-baseball.com/cubreporter/archives/024428.html All of them are apparently out. No Scott Moore in the SL.
  8. Gotta love if a > b, then b > a transitivity.
  9. I dunno, Brackman's an interesting guy. He's a lot like Jeff Samardzija in that he's never concentrated on baseball. Given his size, stuff and arm strength there's a pretty good chance that he moves ahead of David Price. He's every bit as talented.
  10. Over/under on how many clogging quotes we'll get? at least it's good comic relief.
  11. Yeah they want more guys like Kazmir, so Brackman would be that guy. They both have Scott Boras as their agent.
  12. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/2006/10/01/4ov3T5aM.jpg From today's game...
  13. From my experience, it seems BA only catches guys in west coast leagues once at best. They had Zach Duke hitting like 86-88 a few years back. He went to the east coast and he was in the low 90s iirc.
  14. We don't exactly have a place for him, but if there ever was a time we could get him relatively cheaply it'd be now. I'd imagine we could swindle Krivsky into liking a combination of Jacque Jones and prospects for Adam Dunn. They're also in the market for starting pitching so one of our thousands of failed prospects this season in that deal might be enticing. The Reds don't have much in their system outside of Votto and Bailey so there's room to work. I am thinking trading for Dunn would be easier than trading for Vernon Wells. Mainly because Krivsky and the Cubs system are better matches. Krivsky came up learning about tools so he's probably on that side of the spectrum more (see Kearns). The Jays love sabersavvy prospects and our best one who fits that description might be Sean Gallagher or Jake Fox - two guys that would be trumped by pretty much every team. They wouldn't be too interested in the Felix Pie's or Donald Veal's of the world, I think. Anyways Dunn's contract situation is 10.5M next season and a 13M club option in 2008. He's coming off his second-worst offensive season (which is a .290 EqA!) and is hitting .188 and .153 the last two months.
  15. Im not that high on Rasmus myself.
  16. 15 of our last 21 games are on the road. Meh.
  17. The Marlins and Twins schedules have been released. We don't play the Twins as expected. Here's the Marlins' schedule. at Wrigley: May 28-30 in Florida: Sep 24-26 By knowing their schedule. April 31-May 2 are against the Pirates June 26-28 are home games against Colorado August 3-5 are against the Mets September 21-23 are against the Pirates http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f189/kctigers23/vanished4.jpg
  18. Ooh Good stuff. Thanks. Speaking of Dolis, did we have find out the kids age?
  19. http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060921/SPORTS0201/60920084/1059 Article on Sam Runion. He's probably a 2-3 rounder right now.
  20. Speaking of his religion, anyone know if he's going on a mission anytime soon?
  21. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/news/262521.html Rosters are out. Koerber is the only Cub.
  22. Yeah the offdays are in question. Both of those series could be moved up a day. I didn't run through the exact days, Just broke the series down to mid week and weekend sets.
  23. I didn't realize Pawly lost 8-10 MPH on his fastball earlier in the season. Something's fishy here. Cubs dominated chat. For sure. Anyways, tomorrow is the MWL. The Cubs will have atleast one guy in it, Donnie Veal. Veal's probably in the 5-8 range behind McCutchen, Upton, Bruce, and Adenhart. He's right there with Jake McGee, Wade Davis and Colby Rasmus. The only other Cubs who has a chance to make it would be Mitch Atkins, but he'd be in the bottom 3 or 4 if he did, I think.
