  1. sorry i didn't get back to you within the allotted 18 hour time limit And you should be. fine, feel free to regale us with more of your horribly flawed analysis of the player. expand and back up your claims. You criticized him based on his number of HRs per plate appearance, which penalizes anybody who has a patient approach at the plate. The last I checked, this was the statistically valid why to do it. Because, obviously when someone's taking a walk THEY CANT HIT A HOME RUN SO THEIR EXPECTED POWER IS LOWER. It's not molecular physics, it's pretty intuitive. One negative byproduct of taking walks is you lower your expected extra base power. If that's what you're calling me out on, you had better find something else. That's pretty [expletive].
  2. Too worn out to fight...And it's only April! According to ESPN.com, only 5.6% of teams in the last 25 years to finish April 3 games or more under .500. Huh? Am I missing something here? Only 5.6% of playoff teams in the last 25 years finished 3 games or more under .500 in April. That's nice. Doesn't really tell us anything.
  3. We're fine. Everyone needs to shut up. The record might not be what you want it to be, but the Cubs are playing better than anyone else in the division and appear to be the best team at scoring runs and the best team at limiting runs. With 80% of the season remaining, which is more important? Of course it's the fact the Cubs are playing well.
  4. I think the Cubs are just the order Armas needs. His K:BB this season is 6:11. It's likely it's be at 1:1 by the end of the night.
  5. "L'Abitudine" - Andrea Bocelli. It translates as "The Habit"

  7. Lenny Dykstra. Not a lot of power, pretty good but not great speed, good patience, undersized, plays balls-to-the-wall. This comparison has been raised before, and it seems to be a very apt one. For every Lenny Dykstra there are hundreds of guys comparable to him who flame out in AA. Sam Fuld and Adam Greenberg being immediate examples that jump to mind. Chris Walker too, though he's got very good speed. Three guys drafted much lower than Payne will be. Its still a pathetic notion. Mike Fontenot. And he was drafted much higher than Payne will be.
  8. for the love of god can someone get theriot out of the two hole
  9. Jesus... I ended up with 54 RBIs this week. 11. Vitters and Harvey are poor comparisons. Harvey to Burgess or Heyward is a much better comparison.
  12. why would you skip Hill? Last time was different, he warmed up for the game. This time, Im sure he didn't warm up at six in the morning or whenever it was called.
  13. play semantics all you want. you know what i meant that's all that matters. keep on wasting your time.
  14. There's no way someone can say a player will never be traded. Anything can happen in the future. samardzija has a no trade clause and a huge contract. there's like 0.000000000001% chance of him being traded within the next 8 years.
  15. hill will probably pitch tomorrow, lilly tuesday and then the cubs have the option of skipping guzman and letting him stay in AAA and pitching marquis on wednesday. they can then skip guzman a little while longer with another offday on thursday. The Cubs dont need the fifth starter until the 12th
  16. I'll take sample size for 500, Alex. I'll take "Theriot has an unsustainable babip" for 1,000,000 We have a winner. Congratulations you just won an autographed cup from Adam Dunn!
  17. I'll take sample size for 500, Alex. You dont get it you know that. My point is Theriot is entirely batting average driven even compared to Cedeno and Izturis. Once his BABIP falls, and it will fall, he's pretty much the same as them. In fact for as "well" as he's hit so far, he's been CONSIDERABLY below average for a shortstop.
  18. samardzija cant even be traded yet and there almost no chance hes ever traded
  19. should i play devil's advocate? Isolated Power .226 Ronny Cedeno .080 Cesar Izturis .031 Ryan Theriot Isolated Discipline .073 Cesar Izturis .024 Ronny Cedeno .020 Ryan Theriot Discuss.
  20. Yeah I have the same. I love FOX monopolizing saturday baseball.
  21. I'd definitely take Wieters. I thought so, Callis comments dont make much sense to me. I hope Wieters does fall to us. I guess it all comes down to what KC does with that 2nd pick. Callis is just guessing. everyone loves vitters bat, everyone. i could see it happening if they dont think wieters can stick behind the dish
  22. hes nothing special. he has a decent bat. hes not a defensive standout and doesnt have very good power. Todd Frazier is probably the best offensive SS in college this year, but he probably won't stick there. cozart, worth and horton are close. college shortstops never have intrigued me personally.
