i dunno who was picking for the cubs but for the annual sickels mock the cubs ended up with 1-3) Rick Porcello 1S-48) Yasmani Grandal 3-97) Zack Cozart 4-127) John Ely 5-157) Stephen Porlier I dont care for the Grandal pick with others available. We could use a catcher, but meh. I dislike the Cozart pick. Cameron Rupp was avail at the time and is a better hitting catcher than Grandal imo. Elys decent I guess. Stephen Porlier at that pick wouldnt be bad. Ill take it. Ive toyed with the idea of a mock running through three round or so, to give an idea on who could be there for the third round pick.

No. I think all suspensions are just like the MLB suspensions, the team is just short- unless its a long term suspension where they will be placed on the restricted list- and there are several machinations to that including a hearing i believe. It is unlikely that either player would allow themselves to be placed on the DL for a bogus reason. The MLBPA would have kittens. Miller knows he is near the end and is just trying to hang on to the chance or the injury was legit. you dont call it a suspension.

You'll get more for Z at the end of July. It is in the best interest of the Cubs to hold on to this D-Bag and wait for the market to go up. Now he won't. Teams will pay more for 4 months of a player than they will for 2 months of a player.

Is it possible to place both guys on the DL for 15 days for discipline. Say MB has a busted lip (legit reason!) and Z has a umm "back problem" like Millers. Or a broken heart. I dunno if we can put them on the bereavement list. If MB gets suspended, our catching tandem would be Hill and Soto (maybe Jake Fox though he hasnt seen time there lately)

I really think Moustakas can change to behind the dish. That easily gives him an advantage over a slightly better hitter in Jason Heyward.

If memory serves, Burgess is expected to have pretty high contract demands. I don't expect him to fall to us in the supplemental round, but I wouldn't be shocked out of my pants. incorrect. if he falls it could be an issue. hes not deemed unsignable or anything. it's not that big of a deal.

I didnt see the game. I didnt read this thread, but I'd like to say no matter what Michael Barrett was in the right on this one. I love me some Barrett.

parker has supposedly passed main as the hardest prep thrower in the draft. i wouldnt take either hs pitcher over moustakas. maybe beavan, i think hes the best hs arm. id put moustakas behind the dish and hed be a stud as long as his bat pans.

okay fine ill post a mock draft next week and rank the top 50 players the way I see them. When neither of us are here in ten years someone can see how they turned out! Im not saying I know anything but one thing I do know is that the more I follow the minor leagues and draft stuff the less I like Sickels and his analysis.

We're not looking at all of them for those of you not following the draft drama. My rankings would be 1. Mike Moustakas, C/3B 2. Jason Heyward, 1B/RF 3. Michael Burgess, OF 4. Josh Vitters, 3B/LF 5. Matt Dominguez, 3B Despite his struggles, I'd take Burgess before Vitters and I know the Vitters army will trash me for it. I don't care.
