  1. Wow, that's ridiculous. Not really. You're telling me that since there were 15 balls hit into play for Verlander and all of them were recorded as outs aren't lucky? There were 9 balls hit into play for Escobar and only four of them were recorded as outs. You tell me which player is more likely to have success.
  2. yeah cuban wont get admitted into the Good Ol' Boys Club.
  3. seriously mb jacked ajp in the face, we cant EVER knock MB.
  4. Escobar K'd 14 in 6 innings. Verlander K'd 12 in 9 innings. Escobar walked one. Verlander walked 4. Regardless of results, 90% of the time we're talking about Escobar's start, not Verlander. in other words.....lots of luck.
  5. so then really the problem isn't barrett but that zambrano has the brain of a baboon? well, we already knew that.
  6. There is probably a slight effect, but the fact that when you analyze the data there's almost no strand of validity to the argument that certain catchers get more out of their pitchers than other catchers. Like I said, there is probably an effect, but the magnitude of this effect is worthless. I do agree that giving a catcher an off day one time through the rotation is a good idea, especially during the summer when the Cubs play a lot of day games. Zambranos our best bat from the mound so it makes sense to have a personal catcher for him, even more so when factoring in the recent altercations between Z and Barrett. But still, MB's lack of success with Big Z this season is pretty meaningless IMO.
  7. um yay useless stats
  8. All of the new registrations that are shown have not been activated. There haven't actually been any new activations since well before this tournament was first mentioned. A large number of the registrations are from bots, and distinguishing between the legitimate registrations and the bots takes time, which is one of the reasons registrations have been taking time to activate recently. he regular interface shows the newest registration; the Premium interface shows the newest activation. right, i was looking at the premium interface. all the gibberish users had profiles, you could PM them, etc. You want links? No need for that; since they aren't active they wouldn't be able to log in to read PM's anyway. Look at the bottom of the main forum page to see the newest activated member (currently baseball girl); the ones shown on the member list are registered but not necessarily activated. I think I was a bit misleading with my comments on regular vs. Premium. I was referring to the newest member shown on the main forum page, not what you see when ou click on the member list. gotcha. sorry to derail my own thread....they looked like bot registrations to me, just making sure. There is no conspiracy. I'm sorry. Let's just face facts. http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r306/bofe4321/suicide.gif (im kidding!....or am I?)
  9. So Im 25th overall on Yahoo. I accidently drop BJ Upton thinking I select Freddy Sanchez and then watch Aramis Ramirez go on the DL two days later. Maybe Upton will sneak thru waivers but this sucks. Upton has been on my bench since his 0 fer 20 or so. http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/54333/12
  10. id get it if it were worth it, but its not. the cheapest one doesnt even get you rankings.
  11. No, everyone would still (correctly) vote against you. Ya think? Btw, you just lost yourself a vote. you wouldn't have voted for me anyways!
  12. No, everyone would still (correctly) vote against you.
  13. you both suck equally. i voted for newusername because i thought derwood would be miles ahead of everyone. oops. i probably shoulda thought it through.
  14. wow thats really odd! he must have impressed in extended spring training. Why didnt he play last year, or this year? injured? He signed late but got 71 ABs at the end of last summer in the AZL. No surprise that he stayed in extended spring training as a 19-year old, the surprise is that he's not at Boise or Peoria. isn't daylan johnson playing everyday at SS??? or is that Mota? It's been mostly Robinson Chirinos. Johnston and Mota are SS at Peoria. thanks got it. they must plan on playing sampson a lot if he is jumping 2 levels. it could be an emergency. Veal appears to be getting on track with three decent K:BB starts
  15. for ba, plate coverage = discipline. ie if a guy can hit a ball from nose to toes, he has good plate coverage so he has good plate discipline vitters isnt going to K very much in the pros so for ba he has good plate d.
  16. if he was eligible as a freshman and he didnt transfer then hes going to be eligible as a sophomore because hes going to a Juco
  17. And? That's the point. The Cubs don't develop hitters. just look at pie and Harvey, Montanez, Choi, Patterson, etc. at least choi could walk
  18. dont count on it. if we had the cash to sign them we would have gotten better players in rounds 3-10.
  19. The AZL team will be interesting because of recent Latin signings and Vitters. Just looking over what you guys have posted so far, nothing too interesting, sadly. dont be shocked if vitters heads to boise. hes pretty advanced.
  20. at work. i was off yesterday afternoon. i work outside in the heat. No AC much less internet. the cubs draft is terrible up and down.
  21. Disappointed moreso, but yes. im disappointed in the lack of high upside players taken in general. it was the strength of the draft and we completely avoided it. terrible I believe that this is because the Cubs were not allowed to spend money and it will not be a sign of Wilken's drafts in the future (or maybe im just being very hopeful), what does everyone else think? they weren't overdrafting all of the players. thomas wasnt much of one and neither was donaldson. they probably could have nabbed another guy for the same price
  22. im not, im just saying given the trends in the draft, dont tell me you dont see it coming.
