  1. come on i know there are two more people who like me
  2. i voted to give imb the lead for the moment
  3. 3 more to tie. LETS GO FOR A TIE!
  4. wow i barely posted in the first 15 pages
  5. it appears, however, i either: A. Don't post outside the Draft Board enough to get recognition for this poll. B. Make a few posts outside the draft board, but always do it in a condescending way, so people hate me. C. Suck at life and need to commit suicide. D. Both A & B E. A, B & C I've been home for two hours now and no one has voted for me :(
  6. I agree that Biggio should be elected to the HOF, but could you explain why the Astrodome is a small park? http://www.baseball-reference.com/l/limajo01.shtml Not the only thing! But seriously it was consistently one of the best pitchers parks in baseball when he played in it.
  7. i went to school with brooks' half-brother. that family is all over the texas sports scene.
  8. I like the guy, but THAT is stretching it. I could name off the top of my head at least 75 players better than him. believe me or not, bill james had him at 35 overall. I dont know if hes that high but top 50 certainly is within the realm of possibilities (Although a lot of his value was due to his game being pretty park-nuetral and then playing in an extreme HR depressing park....nonetheless the value was still created, in wins).
  9. i know im just saying those were better. the soriano thread was epic
  10. Craig Biggio is without a doubt a first-ballot hall of famer. If you look at his stats overall you will come out with that decision, once you factor in the value created in a smallpark (The Astrodome) his value shoots up through the roof and you're possibly looking at a top 50 player in the history of the game of baseball.
  11. Mephistopheles was the incarnation of the devil that made the deal with Faust. this is true, but the reason i named myself Meph was because it's two awesome songs by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Probably my two favorite nonchristmas songs by TSO/Savatage.
  12. IM ALSO DOING THE NOBLE THING IN THE NSBB/GRB Fantasy League by kicking everyones butt and being in first since the first week of the season. I also have a fantasy team on Yahoo's top 50 overall.
  13. My Soriano/Lugo comparison was better -- and my anti-Jeter MVP thread saying Carlos Guillen was a better candidate. And yes, I can be a dick. I am the first to admit it.
  14. All of the new registrations that are shown have not been activated. There haven't actually been any new activations since well before this tournament was first mentioned. A large number of the registrations are from bots, and distinguishing between the legitimate registrations and the bots takes time, which is one of the reasons registrations have been taking time to activate recently. he regular interface shows the newest registration; the Premium interface shows the newest activation. right, i was looking at the premium interface. all the gibberish users had profiles, you could PM them, etc. You want links? No need for that; since they aren't active they wouldn't be able to log in to read PM's anyway. Look at the bottom of the main forum page to see the newest activated member (currently baseball girl); the ones shown on the member list are registered but not necessarily activated. I think I was a bit misleading with my comments on regular vs. Premium. I was referring to the newest member shown on the main forum page, not what you see when ou click on the member list. gotcha. sorry to derail my own thread....they looked like bot registrations to me, just making sure. There is no conspiracy. I'm sorry. Let's just face facts. http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r306/bofe4321/suicide.gif (im kidding!....or am I?) I wanted to post this GIF with that post. I couldnt find it then so will do it now to make it complete. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/espnish/loser_justdoit.gif Carry on with the beat-down.
  15. russ ortiz had an 85 in a 14 win season and a 105 in a 21 win season http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/roberje02.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/roberje02.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/roberje02.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/roberje02.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/roberje02.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/roberje02.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/roberje02.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/roberje02.shtml
  16. Wow, that's ridiculous. Not really. You're telling me that since there were 15 balls hit into play for Verlander and all of them were recorded as outs aren't lucky? There were 9 balls hit into play for Escobar and only four of them were recorded as outs. You tell me which player is more likely to have success. Yes, and how hard and where the balls were hit don't matter. You're right. A pitcher has NO CONTROL on the directional vector of a batted ball. To argue otherwise is to be stupid. How hard? Probably, BUT most hits aren't the hardest contact off of bats. Most hits are looping liners or groundballs through the infield -- hardly hot shots. So a pitcher can't induce balls to be batted to the opposite field by pitching on the outer half, or vice versa? Or induce more ground outs by throwing stuff that breaks down and in, or fly balls by throwing stuff in, up and on the hands, or rising heat? I didn't say a pitcher couldn't change the trajectory of a ball up or down. Groundballs actually wind up as hits much more often than flyballs, like three times as much, and today 11 of the 15 balls in play were of the groundball variety. Sure a pitcher can induce a ball to a certain side of the field, but he doesn't have control on whether it goes right to the shortstop or two feet beyond his range. ALL of that is pure luck.
  17. Since he's so lanky I've always thought that his effort less gas is driven by his whip-like arm action. I think he airs it out every pitch. I think if he tried to throw harder he'd lose some of the whip. I think his motion is one of those max eff guys that don't look like it.
  18. I don't think he'd last long. The torque on his elbow is already at dangerous levels.
  19. Wow, that's ridiculous. Not really. You're telling me that since there were 15 balls hit into play for Verlander and all of them were recorded as outs aren't lucky? 20. Yeah, except for the 5 hits and three runs. That's pretty ridiculous. Except for the extreme good luck of Verlander and the extreme bad luck of Escobar. The simple fact is that Escobar was more dominant and was more likely to outpitch Verlander.
  21. Depends what kind of doubles those were that Escobar gave up. It doesn't matter. Even deep fly balls (the kind that wind up as doubles) end up as outs more often than groundballs.
