  1. What if he doesn't become a free agent? That was why I said, unless they allowed to negotiate an extension. Sure it's not a dumb move if they can negotiate an extension. But to give up players without that assurance when you are out of the playoff hunt is dumb. True. However Dunn loves Bowden, and with the Nationals moving into a new park I don't think it would be too hard for them to work out an extension. Theo has lots of cash. Theo could use a bat. Theo loves the OBP. Cashman has lots of cash. Cashman could use a 1B. Cashman loves the OBP.
  2. What if he doesn't become a free agent? It's very likely that he will. Anyways its still stupid all the way around. There's no way he signs there long term unless they give him Sori money.
  3. You cant post full articles. Anyways this is stupid.
  4. Why would Texas have any interest in the best prospect in that deal (Patterson). They already have a fine young 2B who is locked up for four more years and is probably going to wind up being considerably better than Patterson over the next 5-10 years. The Rangers aren't going to trade Tex for some spare parts. Every single player you mentioned would be spare parts for them. They could use a ML ready starter like Marshall -- I'll give you that. Soto? Eh, maybe. Their needs reside in the outfield and at first if they dump Tex. The deal would have to involve Pie, and probably Marshall and/or Murton as well. The deal you posted would get blown out of the water by 28 other ML teams and probably all 12 Japanese league teams
  5. the numbers...to keep things consistent im not going to include todays L. +22.9 runs on offense. His defense is a little trickier. Im going to give a conservative +3. 91.9 Ws
  6. Teixeira would play fine in RF. Better bat and similar glove, but as you admitted it would be too costly. I'd think a package for him would have to start with Pie and Marshall plus another two or three top level prospects. The Rangers have been dying to get good centerfielders in their system for a couple years now. They added Tenn's Borbon this year in the draft, but they would certainly covet Pie as much as any team in baseball if we thought about dealing him -- which we won't.
  7. I still have Felix, Hill, Derrek Lee and up until now Manny Ramirez underperforming on that team.
  8. well rotoworld is calling it a left shoulder subluxation and saying day-to-day. i have my doubts.
  9. unless he's a cardinal, of course.
  10. oh and Pence left his game early today.. AWESOME and sheets is hurt and dempster is hurt and myers is hurt and lee is out and kinsler is hurt
  11. God damn this sucks. He was my starting SS in my league where I am currently #15 overall on Yahoo, and may break top ten this week. Crap. I did trade him for Daddy Pujols in another league, but crap crap crap. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=270722128
  12. It depends. He's playing over his head with his .305 EqA. His career EqA is only .273 and he's not the demon he once was in the OF. He probably average as a CF or a bit more than average. Ill conservatively give him +1 run over the remainder of the season and a .290 EqA is something hes done once before this season (.291 in 2002). With those we're looking at an additional 9.4 runs on offense .... in total about .9 wins pushing us to 90.6.
  13. im not so sure either of those teams value murt's skillset which is why i suggested someone like Oakland or Toronto.
  14. .258/.298/.398 His bat sure makes up for it. Which is why I said usually. I don't really see where you're going with this. You're selectively reading my comments avoiding critical pieces of information. I said usually Barrett's bat makes up the difference. It's not now.
  15. Really, is that updated for Saturday? I was just pulling it right off the BP stats page. it doesnt include todays games. rich made his 19th start of the season today and that has him at 18 starts. He probably gained two or so runs on it today, pushing him up to the late 30s, but hell certainly be top 40 starters considering he was #41 going into the day -- there are four relievers ahead of him.
  16. if you dont like it here, you can leave.
  17. unfortunately the cubs didnt develop players when they were the third worst team in baseball (06) what makes you think theyre going to do it know. hypothetically speaking it wont make a difference. murton is who he is. i already said not to upgrade over murton unless its big. im just saying one at cf, c or ss wouldnt be bad.
  18. nieves isnt barrett. barrett isnt in this discussion so leave him out. barretts bat usually made it up
  19. do you want to be put in time out again? you just said you are sorry for derailing this thread and then you continue to do it with the very next post. anyways to add to this actual trade. It's an upgrade but bench upgrades are worthless for catchers. they just dont play enough to make a difference. we're talking about less than half a run or so You'd rather have a catcher that costs you the game down the stretch? the chances a catcher loses a game down the stretch are slim to none. See Barrett, Michael. thanks for the (lack of an) argument.
  20. But what if Posada has to do a 15 day DL stint, or even if he is out for just a week. Wouldn't that have the potential to compound the damage? yes but keep in mind theyre trading for the worst molina. nieves pecota is actually comparable to the production molinas had this season, of course nieves has sucked ass more. over 15 games the difference will be a run and a half. which when coupled with the yankees offense means like .05 wins if even that.

  22. well even if we can squeeze out an extra win out of a couple low level trades....its a win thats useful
