  1. Who cares. He got the job done. Tie game! I also hate small ball. I'd take a chance for a big inning right there instead of a quick inning and just 1 run. Ah, not me. Especially not against a guy who's having a great year, and has been close to unhitable the past month and a half. But the guy just hung two straight curve balls. At least give him a chance to hang another one.

  3. That's 2 ABs in which Todd just guessed. Come on, Walker.
  4. Nothing like a letter high hanging curve. Jerry sure likes to swing at those.
  5. And none of those strikes were in the zone.
  6. Eh. The next homestand is going to be more important. The Cubs are going to have to beat up on teams like the Giants and Diamondbacks. What was that, Hairston?
  7. According to Mark O'Neal, Kerry felt very good today and if he's feeling the same tomorrow, he'll be allowed to play catch. They're still optimistic that he'll only miss one start.
  8. So you're saying it was unseasonably cold? That's why they play 'em in the morning. But that was just at gametime. I don't think they're going to push him too much in game situations in that heat.
  9. Nomar's single was in IF single to the shortstop in the 1st inning. He played half the game and finished 1-2. He struck out in his only other AB. It's important to note that it was 99 degrees in Arizona today with no wind.
  10. Stupid summer school keeping me from going to the game. Although, if I was able to finish my final paper before that, I could possibly be able to go... Boy will it be nice to get Nomar back.
  11. #17. Grant had a nice game. 5.2 IP, 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Daytona's game was suspended in the 6th in a scoreless tie due to power issues.
  12. The preliminary diagnosis on Kerry is shoulder inflammation. No word if they'll now schedule an MRI or what they'll do next.
  13. I'm still trying to figure out why Dusty is batting Murton 8th again.
  14. I'll spot-start this one... 3 of 4 in Cinci would sure be nice. Look for many a HR tomorrow. It'll be hot and humid at the GABP. Not only that, but Maddux has given up 17 HRs already while batters have taken Milton deep 29 times. That's...a lot (and only 3 less than his walk total). Look for Hairston to be back in the lineup with Cedeno getting the start at short. Righties have a .959 OPS against Milton, so hopefully Burnitz can take the day off. Here's a fun fact on Milton. This year, if you add his walk and homerun totals against righties, you'd get his strikeout total against righties. That's pretty sad. Oh, and some guy named Maddux is just 6 strikeouts away from 3,000.
  15. With a flyout to right and a FC to short, Corey finished 2-5. Williamson struck out two in his perfect inning of relief.
  16. Williamson's first appearance with Iowa:
  17. In what could be his last AAA start before being called back up, Hill did not do too well: 4.1 IP, 8 hits, 6 runs, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, 2 HRs His 5th inning: Eric Reed hit by pitch. Josh Wilson doubles (21) on a fly ball to center fielder Corey Patterson. Eric Reed to 3rd. Joe Dillon doubles (13) on a fly ball to left fielder Ben Grieve. Eric Reed scores. Josh Wilson scores. Jason Wood flies out to center fielder Corey Patterson. Joe Dillon to 3rd. Matt Padgett homers (16) on a fly ball to right field. Joe Dillon scores. Pitcher Change: Robert Brownlie replaces Rich Hill, batting 6th.
  18. I hope Ryan's attempts to recover his stolen bicycle will be as entertaining as Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. What a bad, bad game...
  19. That's great. He had a bunt single down the first base line after a leadoff double in the first and then stole second, hit his third HR already to right to leadoff the 3rd, and popped out to 2nd.
  20. I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to suggest that the rumor was picked up by a Reds message board (or started there, as well) that Marty reads. There was other evidence suggesting that sweetemotion wasn't on the level.
  21. And Kerry is leaving the game. Ugh.
  22. Can we trade the fans instead? I'd also be willing to eat their salary.
