  1. Way to go, Wade...
  2. Uhh, wide right. By about 20 yards, too. That wind must've picked up by about 15 mph while they were setting that FG attempt up.
  3. What's wrong with defense first? I love it. Bears having a decent amount of success on the ground and their lines are dominating on both sides of the ball.
  4. Kyle Orton last year at a very windy Ryan Field: 15/33, 143 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT Ugh. Maynard shanks it.
  5. WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING, THOMPSON!?! My goodness. An absolutely perfect punt that bounces high in the air inside the five you and let it go into the endzone without even trying to knock it down!?!
  6. Two passes to Johnson and he has 0 yards through the air. Those are just bad, bad play calls.
  7. Haha. Not only did they have to scrap the inflatable bear during pre-game ceremonies, but they also had to remove the yard markers because they were flying across the field. Holy cow. They just showed footage of warmups and even the long snaps were blowing about 5 feet to the punter's left. This is going to be a real fun game to watch. And my goodness those uniforms are horrible.
  8. Windy? 25-35 mph with gusts occasionally hitting 50 mph.
  9. Instead of being down 6 (pending a 2-point conversion) with over 90 seconds left and a timeout, Georgia will have to run a kickoff back or fair-catch a kickoff to get just one last play. Well, the personal foul will make the kickoff a little more interesting.
  10. Holy cow...
  11. NU opens up at the BCA tomorrow night. I'll be happy if they don't go 1-2 in a tournament and blow their shot at the NIT like they did last year.
  12. Never short on drama!
  13. Wouldn't a Wisconsin loss be a good thing for Northwestern, Big 10 standings wise? Most likely not. If Wisconsin beats Hawaii and loses today, they'd finish 9-3, 5-3. A win at Illinois would put Northwestern at 7-4, 5-3. Since there's no tie-breaker in bowl selection (and since bowls can select teams out of order, anyways), Wisconsin is pretty much guaranteed to be selected ahead of Northwestern no matter what. If Iowa wins today, they'll finish either 7-4, 5-3 or 6-5, 4-4. Iowa will probably be selected ahead of Northwestern if there's a tie (again, the win over them wouldn't matter) because of the larger fan base. That might happen anyways if they finish 6-5, in which case it's Music City Bowl for NU instead of the Sun Bowl. Then again, I'd contemplate going down to Nashville if that's what they have to settle for.
  14. Wisconsin sure is putting up a stinker this evening. They blew a ton of chances and now they're down 10 to Iowa. This would be a pretty bad loss for them in their Big Ten finale if the score holds up.
  15. How many open deep passes is Wisconsin going to drop in this game?
  16. I know how terrible they are, but we desperately need to reestablish a running game (if not for the season finale, for the bowl game). They may very well take this week to regroup, but I'll only believe the offensive success wen I see it. I sure hope they go out there pumping on all cylinders. They should be pretty pissed with how they played and the "win" over Iowa on senior day may have been a bit of a distraction. Hopefully Ohio State can take care of Michigan because I want the Sun Bowl bad. But if they don't put up big offensive numbers on the Illini, that's going to hurt our chances for a better bowl game. You can't go 4 straight weeks with your offense looking like you know what.
  17. Illinois shouldn't be a battle. They lost 37-3 to Purdue today. Purdue is not a good team at all this year. Northwestern will beat Illinois by at least 3 TD's next week. Baz has been bad the last two games, the WRs have been bad the past three games (as has the offensive line), and special teams is unbelievably horrid. Not sure what the injury report is, but despite it being a game they should win easily, they have not looked good at all since Michigan State.
  18. Barring a comeback, will Florida State's loss to Clemson knock them out of the top 25? Not sure if there enough good teams to fill the top 25. So much for my hopes of keeping the game respectable and limiting injuries. Illinois next week is going to be a battle. If Iowa can't win in Wisconsin today, they'll have to beat Minnesota at home for a 6th win. It's not out of the realm of possiblity that the Big Ten could fulfil only 4 of their Bowl commitments if Ohio State goes to a BCS bowl and Michigan State can't upset Penn State.
  19. Well this is great. Two injuries in the secondary and now Sutton is having x-rays taken on his left hand.
  20. Northwestern never had a chance at this game. Ohio State is too good and we've been far too bad the past two weeks. Hopefully they can rediscover the running game next week at Illinois and give the team a decent shot at the Sun Bowl. Looks like Michigan State is probably going to miss out on bowl unless they really wake up in the second half. They sure have gone downhill fast. They played Michigan and Ohio State pretty tough but ended up rolling over to Northwestern in the second half. They might lose 6 of their least 7 to close the season. Paterno really needs to stop talking about the "black athlete." And for the love of god just kick it out of bounds on the kickoffs. Oh, great. Yet another guy in the secondary goes down today. Brendan Smith could conceivably be back next week, but I really hope there's no need to rush his knee injury.
  21. Well that was just a terrible throw. Lane was wide open. Just don't need any more injuries.
  22. Wow. Randy Walker finally wakes up and puts Pederson back in to punt. Still 5 quarters too late, though. Would've been nice for them to at least establish a running game before abandoning it for the rest of the afternoon.
  23. Well that was quicker than I thought. I've seen better special teams in high school. That should just about wrap this one up. Ohio State scores 21 points without having to do much on offense.
  24. Yeah, Smith was down at the half-yard line and should've been 4th and goal. Not like it would have mattered, but you never know. Ohio State has started their drives from the NU 45 and from the NU 29. If the offense can't drive the ball consistently downfield to help make up for the crappy punting, this game will get out of hand pretty quickly.
  25. Not sure why Slade is back there, but our punting and special teams coverage are terrible... Pitman leaving the game. By the way, if there's anyone else watching, did Smith get that last TD? It looked like the cameras showed him down at the half yard line.
