    Kerry needs to build up arm strength. He wouldn't be able to properly rehab while coming in for relief. And they really have no need for him in the bullpen.

    Sounds like he's not doing any worse, just not better. No reason to bring him off the DL this weekend.

    I don't think it was pressure to get a leadoff hitter. He had wanted that kind of fast, slappy leadoff hitter for a while. Of course, what he needed was someone could get on base, but he felt that speed trumped that.

    That's awesome. I'll post suggestions later, but it looks like that backs up my impressions on the number of Ks looking he's had as of late. Edit: I'd like to request Eric Patterson. And I agree with Vance about the interpretation.

    Welcome to the board. Which direction will you be coming from?

    Winning means more ticket sales, more merchandise sales, etc. They have very little reason to field a losing team when they're spending as much money as they are. If they had a good team with this budget, their expenses would remain the same but their revenue would increase a significant amount. The Tribune Co., Andy MacPhail, Jim Hendry, and Dusty Baker all want to win. Money, job security, and pride are all on the line for them. While they're all making money now, it will not last at this pace. And despite their current job security, it cannot last and this kind of failure will be detrimental to all of them in the long run.
