  1. Boise scored 3 in the 7th to take a 5-2 lead. Clevenger is 3-4 with a double, Hollywood is 2-4 with 2 doubles, Colvin is 2-4 with an RBI and 2 SB, and Canzler is 2-4 with a double and RBI.
  2. That's all for Wells. Have to give him credit. He was shelled in his first AAA appearance but has responded with four very good outings in a row now.
  3. McGehee breaks it open on a 3-run double. 6-2 I-Cubs. Mobile beats the Jaxx 3-2. Carlos Vasquez picked up the loss. Papelbon has now gone 17 innings without giving up a run. Zeros across the board with the exception of two strikeouts in 3 innings of relief.
  4. Let it be known (to Raisin) that SAS just went on and on about how Kobe was comparable/maybe even better (one day) than Jordan. Of course, some of that was probably just the expected butt kissing since Kobe was on his show.
  5. Iowa is tied up 2-2 in the 8th. Fontenot hit his 7th HR of the season. Wells so far: 7 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 10-5 GO-FO, 91-62 The Jaxx are tied with Mobile 2-2 late. Brownlie pitched two scoreless innings in relief. Fox hit his 2nd HR of the season at AA. Daytona lost 2-0. Grant Johnson gave up a run in an inning in relief. Peoria won 4-2. Atkins gave up 2 over 6 pretty good innings. Avery struck out the side for the save. Boise is tied 2-2 in the 5th. Pina gave up 2 runs (1 earned) over 5 innings on 1 hit, 2 walks, 3 Ks, and a 7-5 GO-FO. Papelbon has yet to give up a run in relief. Clevenger is 2-3 with an RBI.
  6. Wells gives up an unearned run (error on Pie) in the first, but McGehee's solo HR in the 2nd ties it up at 1-1. Pie grounded into a 6-4-3 DP with two on and one away to end the inning.
  7. Don't make Jones mad. He might start to not do well against lefties.
  8. They secretly cut the grass a while ago and he was still sucking pretty hard. If anything, it would seem like he'd benefit from a slower infield. His infield choppers to second will only reach the second baseman sooner with a quicker infield. And I'm sure the pitching staff loved the decision.
  9. Yeah, it's getting close to time for moving Petrick out of Boise.
  10. Jake, In the minors, how much emphasis is there on having catchers and pitchers prepare together? With promotions/demotions and individual development, is there much communication between catchers and pitchers before games? What are the advanced scouting reports like in the minor leagues? Do you get much information about opposing pitchers and hitters before games or is it basically up to the players to remember what they've done against specific players in the past? Have you found catching to be helpful in your hitting? Have you ever caught against a hitter who maybe resembles your style a lot (both in terms of strengths and weaknesses) and then consider your approach with him on defense the next time you're taking BP? Thanks!
  11. Is it difficult interacting with players after they've been set back down? Do you find that they're usually more mad or mostly just a bit down? What have your impressions of Guzman been so far? It appears he's still building up arm strength after not pitching in the big league club's bullpen for over two weeks, but are there things that he has still yet to fully get back? According to a recent Cubs.com article, Mike Quade said that Guzman scrapped his curve in favor of his slider? Do you know when they made that decision? What are your impressions of his breaking stuff? What about Hoffpauir? He seems to be struggling, but he's still walking and hitting for power. Thanks!
  12. Sean, Are the more secondary aspects of pitching emphasized any differently as you move up in the system. For example, does the pitching coach at Mesa ignore things like pickoff moves or defense and just focus on the basics? How do you mentally react to walking someone? Does it fluster you at all? Do you place more of an emphasis on getting it over early in the following AB? Or do you treat it as like you would a base hit? Thanks!
  13. Hmm. Looks like the Q&As are closing at noon tomorrow, so ask questions, people.
  14. They even made it into wallpaper. Not sure why they have him at the FT line, though...
  15. It's the new domain for the BrewCrewBall.com minor league stats pages, but unfortunately, they don't include earned runs for pitchers or RBIs for hitters. Still, though, it's pretty promising and already a great tool. Hopefully some of the improvements they have planned can be made soon.
  16. I'm not sure how new it is, but MinorLeagueSplits.com now has gamelogs for individual players.
  17. Unforunately, his July OPS is a mere .754. Guzman's line so far: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 1 HR, 7-5 GO-FO, 86-56
  18. The lack of Yepez love in this thread sickens me.
  19. Quick first for Hill. 6-3, P6, K.
  20. I think you mean "radical."
  21. Hinrich has been named to team USA.
  22. Clines would just sacrifice his power for the sake of making contact. It wouldn't hurt much.
  23. Don't worry, Dusty just cleared Zambrano to throw 130 pitches in his next start.
