  1. 20,000 will never happen. What will/is starting to happen, though, is that ticket sales are dropping. And so is actual attendance, which hurts concession and merchandise sales (and is linked to television ratings, which suuuuuck). The Tribune has motivation to fill the seats, especially since they're spending the money, but Hendry isn't putting a product on the field that will do that. Only winning will actually fill the seats. The Trib spent over $10 million to increase capacity and they're barely filling any of those extra seats on a semi-regular basis. As others have pointed out, opposing fans now have the opportunity to buy tickets because the team sucks so much. Same with tourists. Those groups are going to keep attendance relatively high regardless of the team, but Wrigley Field isn't going to be fully packed. Hendry may not care about that (like he doesn't care about acquiring good players), but the Trib does.
  2. One more thing: If you want to see large seatdata.com pics from certain sections, use this link ( http://www.seatdata.com/images/nfl_bears/800x600/330.jpg ) and just replace the section number at the end. You can replace "nfl_bears" for to see sections for other teams. By the way, they also have some college stadiums up now.
  3. At last, a decision:
  4. Monday night's game had over 1,200 unsold seats. Last night's game had almost 800. Heck, the Sunday game against the Mets had roughly 1,000 tickets left.
  5. From an AP article on Samardzija:
  6. I'm not sure why this didn't register until just now, but the Rams game is at St. Louis. The only prime time game the Bears are playing is sunday night against the Seahawks. I'd imagine games like the Bills and Dolphins would be the least popular ones, so it probably would make sense to try for a game that will be in more demand first.
  7. According to the Des Moines Register, Guzman is not expected to miss a start. And this is from one of Bruce's articles: If Guzman doesn't see the big league rotation before September, will the Cubs shut him down when Iowa's season finishes and end his season early? Or will they try to get him some starts?
  8. Yeah, it's a dilemma. Of course, I'm going to try for just one game, most likely. The more I think about it, the Packers game probably wouldn't be the best to go to. It would be great if the division came down to the final week, but if the Bears already clinched a spot, it wouldn't be a very competitive game. And if the Bears weren't going to advance, then beating the Packers would be bittersweet. I'm thinking more about the Vikings game now, since I want to go to one when it's colder and preferably after Northwestern's (regular) season is over since I have season tickets to that. That could be the big division game late in the season. Maybe the Bucs, though.
  9. If you're going to try by phone, it's probably best to use a number in a different state. It'll likely be automated, but you can still get tickets through an out-of-state number. The main Chicago number might be hard to get through. Also, make sure you don't use multiple windows. Ticketmaster doesn't allow that. If you have seats in one window and then open another, you'll lose whatever you were doing in the first window.
  10. The Jaxx are currently being one-hit. Shaver gave up 4 earned in 5 IP, raising his ERA to 2.51.
  11. Still doesn't appear to be working.
  12. Ugh. Walrond comes in and both runners come in to score (RBI single to right, throwing error on Deardorff trying to gun the runner out at home). Wells' final line: 6.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 91-61, 6-7 GO-FO After Randy's disappointing AAA debut (3.2 IP, 7 ER), he's posted this: 4 GS (and one 5-inning long relief appearance), 31 IP, 1.74 ERA, 25 K, 6 BB, 1 HR
  13. At 8:34, the heat index in Des Moines is 108! It's 92 degrees with an impressive dew point of 79. Great game for Wells. He leaves with one out in the 7th and two runners on. He was losing steam and finished with 91 pitches.
  14. Shaver gives up 4 runs in the 3rd for West Tenn. They trail 4-0.
  15. Burke singles on a good slider with two away in the fifth to break up the perfect game. Wells so far: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K, 52-33
  16. Apparently Dickerson will be managing the I-Cubs. Wells with 2 perfect so far.
  17. He has to get those daily batter/pitcher matchups somehow.
  18. Yeah. Their big supercomputers are tied up running statistical analyses. No multitasking.
  19. It's through ticketmaster correct? Yeah. And the club season ticket holder presale is 8 AM - 8 PM on Friday.
  20. The voting is too close!
  21. It wouldn't seem like there's a congestion problem online. It's probably more of a case of the limited tickets going really, really quickly. I'm still trying to figure out if I should go for the Green Bay game right away or another game since I'd imagine that'll be the most popular. Maybe the Vikings or Bucs. I'm waiting for confirmation that the Bears will be using unique passwords for the presale, but it looks like that's the case.
  22. Well, you can't just blame it on other teams stealing signs. Must be QuesTec.
  23. It wasn't terribly hot out last night, but it may very well just be a case of dehydration (like Zambrano).
  24. Yeah, that doesn't make much sense in that context. I wonder if he was talking about Cherry. Here's what theRedHawks' release had to say:
