  1. Like last year, the Cubs are doing a half-off, online only bleacher ticket promotion for select April and May games. Here is the link. You don't have to be a student, but it doesn't appear that the codes from last year are working. If anyone has one or figures one out, please post it. The games are: Thursday, April 3 - 1:20 p.m. Sunday, April 6 - 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 - 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 - 7:05 p.m. Thursday, April 17 - 1:20 p.m. Sunday, April 20 - 1:20 p.m. Monday, May 12 - 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 - 7:05 p.m.
  2. According to the Trib, contract talks with Hester are supposed to begin this week.
  3. Let's hope he stays healthy and this turns into a pretty team-friendly deal down the line.
  4. Wow. I figured there was still a shot at re-signing him, but I'm shocked that it happened so quickly.
  5. It's great to see Campusano back out there.
  6. http://www.seatdata.com/images/mlb_cubs/800x600/219.jpg Just change the "219" to whatever section you want.
  7. According to NBCSports.com, the personal jet of Vikings owner Zygi Wilf flew out to California to pick Berrian up and take him back to Minnesota.
  8. John Gilmore signed a three-year contract with Tampa Bay.
  9. They're reflecting how the Bears are approaching these kinds of situations now, though. Angelo is rewarding players and wants to keep the veterans happy. By the way, also from that article, Ayanbadejo won't start his FA visits until Monday.
  10. I agree that they won't be able to address all of the problems this off-season, but I don't think I'd call a rebuilding mode. Urlacher contract extension talks are heating up:
  11. Next step for Kosuke: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b18/snoozah/random/banana.jpg
  12. In a small sample size last year, Ceda did a bit better against lefties in terms of hits and SLG against, although he walked more lefties than righties.
  13. And Hoffpauier would have had to put on a little weight, too.
  14. No. It is named for Wrigley the man himself. In no way other than the commonality of the name "Wrigley" is there any effort to sell Wrigley's chewing gum products: no Wrigley logos, advertisements, &c. People fail to get this. "Durr, Wrigley's a corporate name too." No, it isn't. Yes. Yes it is. That's the advantage of naming a company after yourself. It's like saying Turner Field isn't a corporate name. Or Coors. I'm sure there's plenty of others. The point stands about actively marketing the product within the ballpark, though. I'm sure they do that at Turner and Coors. Of course, as has been talked about, the Wrigley corporate name isn't even really found on their products anymore. I'd imagine that 8 or 9 out of 10 people who chew their gum don't even know that it's made by Wrigley. The gum with "Wrigley" on it can't be that popular anymore.
  15. I love how Zell sounds like he feels he's being ripped off by giving the Wrigley company a free ride. If he wants to sell the naming rights, that's his prerogative. But he's not getting screwed out of money by Wrigley.
  16. It doesn't sound like a fun procedure.
  17. Haha he's biased towards my school Except when we're playing Michigan. But can we add a little distance? I'm pretty sure he never actually graduated.
  18. Northwestern has reportedly hired Jim Phillips, current NIU AD, as our new Athletic Director. I'm pretty happy with the move. It's been rumored for a while. His fundraising success at NIU should translate pretty well. It has to be the main focus right now.
  19. Now is a good time to follow auctions on eBay for some of the hottest games. Some can be had for very little above face + tickets.com fees.
  20. About damn time.
  21. Some series in Milwaukee would be fine, but I'm sure the players and staff don't want to be in a hotel for a home series. It's hard to tell what kind of hit the attendance would take, but you'd have to consider that not only would they let season ticket holders skip such a season, but ticket prices would be significantly lower than what they'd be at Wrigley. Of course, they could probably come up with a bunch of creative one-year partial season ticket plans that would sell well.
  22. Hopefully it won't requite surgery, but it sounds manageable.
  23. I don't think there's a reason to keep talking about what's going on at that blog. And assuming that link contains language similar to what was reportedly at that site earlier, it's probably not appropriate, either. If you ignore it, they'll go away.
  24. Hill has definitely lost some weight.
  25. no no no. if they are going to wear throwbacks, they MUST be 100% wool I don't think Neifi would ever stop scratching himself if he had to wear wool.
