  1. I remember the Mariners radio team doing the same thing several years ago whenever they played the Cubs. I guess they don't get sick of doing the same routine a few times every March. It's good to see that Ramirez is back out there.
  2. This could be an interesting lawsuit to watch. It could have a big impact on verbal offers.
  3. So essentially it's a 1.000 OBP vs. a 1.000 SLG. I'd have to take the perfect OBP.
  4. What's really amazing to me is that someone could be in baseball for their entire adult life and not understand a fundamental principle of the game. or that General Managers wouldn't call up some references before hiring a manager Or more likely that GMs don't see anything wrong wit hit.
  5. The deal includes a $1.9 million signing bonus.
  6. Christ he could have gotten that from us. He asked for 2mil/yr, IIRC. Have fun in BAL -- that's a franchise that won't be good again for a long time IMO. We probably could have matched but chose not to. I don't blame the Bears, I'm sure they've had enough dealing with Rosenhaus as it was. I assume/hope that the Bears would have loved to match that, but I have to believe the difference was Baltimore's indication to him that he'd be in the mix for defense. Once Briggs signed, I'm guessing that Ayanbadejo and the Bears just agreed to part ways. By the way, what's with Ayanbadejo talking to reporters via text messages? This is the second time I've read on the Trib blog that he contacted them via TM.
  7. Thanks. I could've sworn I tried those exactly before, including other combinations of capitalized and lowercase letters, but they are case-sensitive. Maybe I didn't. It does look like there aren't many bleacher seats remaining for some of those games.
  8. I wish I'd have been able to watch this week. It looks like I'll have to settle for recording the one-hour recap show Friday afternoon.
  9. This will no longer be the case this year. All road broadcasts on WGN and CSN (even WCIU, if I remember correctly) will be in HD. I'm pretty sure Bulls road games are already being broadcast in HD on CSN. At least, I watched one a few nights ago that was. For the Chicago-area DirecTV customers out there, I looked into it and it appears that WCIU HD is not offered. I'll try to call at some point to see if they'll pick it up at some point, but otherwise, it's only available via OTA or cable.
  10. Yeah, as has already been mentioned, the picture quality will improve once they start broadcasting the regular season in HD. I don't have Comcast, but through DirecTV, their HD picture quality has looked pretty solid in the past. I've enjoyed their widescreen format as an alternative to HD, though.
  11. The tickets themselves will have a an actual number on them in sequence from 1 to 4,500 or however many bleacher seats there are now. But during the regular season, all bleacher seats are general admission. It's first come, first serve, so if you want to have your pick of seats, you can join the line that starts to form when gates open two hours before first pitch.
  12. It's a two-year contract according to the Trib. It was a move they probably had to make. They need some depth at the WR position and there wasn't really a better source for it.
  13. Last year it took a week or two for the codes to even be printed in school newspapers.
  14. Wow. I had no idea there were that many Sandberg cards. I was even more surprised when I saw how long the list was of Sandberg cards that you needed. Any idea how much the collection might be worth together as opposed to just the combined Beckett value? And I'm sad that I've never seen this great one before: http://www.freewebs.com/bzickefoose1/img013.jpg
  15. well get the tissues ready, because some tears are in your future I should also add that I'll be pretty surprised. I haven't seen any strong, valid indications that Angelo is looking at a RB with that pick.
  16. I will not be happy if the Bears use the 14th pick on a RB.
  17. I went down to Wrigley during lunch to pick up pairs to the 4/20 and 9/18 games. So far, I have tickets to 4 games and they're all in the upper deck reserved infield. They're by far the best value now. Everything else is so darn expensive. By the way, to anyone who is going down there next week to pick up tickets at will call, the main ticket windows are closed due to the brick construction. They're currently using the ticket windows at Addison and Sheffield.
  18. Not only did he take a shot to the face while in mid-air, but it looks like he also took a pole fault to the groin while under water.
  19. I'm surprised Ayanbadejo is gone, but I still would have gone with Idonije. He's got to be my favorite Bear now since the end of last season. I'll miss those ridiculous guns of his...
  20. For half-price bleachers? They were probably still the full $36 during your checkout.
  21. I wish I could kick half that hard when I'm upright.
  22. That is pretty detailed info you have on Wrigley, like you have some kind of insider info. Can you tell me why then they haven't updated the urinals in the men's bathroom at Wrigley. If you've ever been physically stuck in a group of people for five minutes in the new Soldier Field bathrooms while trying to get out, you'd know why. Crossing swords, eh? Oh, I never got to that point. I had to leave in order to make it back to my seat for the second half kickoff.
