  1. And he's hitting pretty good as well.
  2. On replay, it looks like he barely beat it out.
  3. Zambrano looks like he's about to go supernova all the time.
  4. But will the fans accept him?
  5. I really don't think the Cubs have intriguing storylines on the mind right now.
  6. I wonder how Patterson would feel about the Cubs boo'ing his brother.
  7. They must absolutely hate Ryan Howard.
  8. You guys have got to stop thinking of these baseball players like they're fine china. Yes, Soriano did hurt his calf on that hop, but if something as trivial as that hop can hurt you, then your calf must have been on the brink anyways. If it wasn't that hop, it would have been something else.
  9. I love watching Jose "good god am I obnoxious to watch" Valverde blow a maximum-cushion save. It's the crazy eyes, man!
  10. Wow, anybody see that Phillies win? I heard the radio call but it sounds really exciting.
  11. A+++ THANKS WILL READ AGAIN!!!11
  12. Astros at Phillies - 6:05pm Brewers at Cardinals - 7:15pm Pirates at Dodgers - 9:10pm
  13. ESPN reports that Keno was the 4th choice for Providence, behind Jim Larranaga, Travis Ford, and Bob McKillop. That's kinda insulting to the coach of the year. However, money talks and $1M is quite loquacious. Now who does Drake go after?
  14. What's this? Do the Cubs hold off selling the front row bleacher seats until a few hours before the game? Is this for every game? That's interesting ... No, the bleachers are General Admission, so he wants to get there early so he can get a good seat before someone else takes it. So the Cubs don't sell bleacher seats online? And there is no such thing as "season ticket" bleacher seats?
  15. What's he supposed to say? That Neifi sucked?

  17. IMO there is about a 0.001% chance of Crede coming close to maintaining his current level of play. This is the very definition of "time to sell high". Sure about that? His BABIP is actually lower than his average this season, which means he's getting unlucky. He's also got a 5.6 LD%, so his BABIP is actually about 60 points better than expected, and this from a guy who has underperformed his expected BABIP his entire career(nearly 1800 PA's). That's a tremendously low LD%. It means his flyballs and groundballs are falling and finding holes.
  18. Bah! Nate McLouth hit a 3-run HR with 2 outs in the 9th against the Dodgers, and the Pirates held on to win 6-4.
  19. At the simplest level, just a gut feeling. Take Julio Franco for example. Bobby Cox always brings him back at the end of every year. If a manager who has taken his team to the playoffs 14 straight years feels that he is a valuable addition to the clubhouse, then I'd have to believe him.
  20. Five: 1) Joe DiMaggio 2) James Dean 3) Marlon Brando 4) Gene Kelly 5) Fred Astaire
  21. Can somebody explain this to me?
  22. Kosuke is partly responsible.
  23. You're trying really hard to get anyone who posts here to admit that they'd take intangibles over statistics in any circumstances. I don't think it'll work. I'm just trying to find some sort of gauge as to how much more intangibles a player must have in order to cancel out a deficiency in stats. Posts above were deciding based on age, which is not the discussion I had in mind (yes, kinda shortsighted of me in my original post). I, myself, would also choose the guy with the better stats. However, a friend of mine last night convinced me that, given a deficiency in stats small enough that can be explained away by "randomness", then you should go with the player with the intangibles. I just wanted to find out what everybody else thought.
