The Yankees were not trying to cost Pavano money, they simply wanted to clear his roster spot and wash their hands of this disaster. Pavano's reason for not accepting this (according to his agent) was that accepting the minor league deal would affect his MLB service time and thereby cost him some of his pension! I find this laughable am thankful that Carla Pavana will be pitching elsewhere next season. We have a multi-million dollar individual fighting against a billion dollar organization over money. I find it difficult to sympathize with either.

Miami's good. not miami, miami...miami of ohio. i just hope the illini can win @ purdue on jan. 19th....my girlfriend and i are making the trip up to w. lafeyette and she is a big purdue fan...i don't want to imagine how much bull i'll have to take on the car ride home if the illini lose. Miami of Ohio is even better. They have like 4 losses by a combined 7 points is it?

:cry: :cry: Both my teams may lose their offensive coordinators. I really don't understand why Cutcliffe would want to go to Duke. He's said he wants to go to a team that is ready to contend, and no offense but I just don't think Duke's close. He'd be a terrific hire for ya'll though. Very, very intelligent offensive mind and he did well at Ole Miss before they inexplicably fired him to bring in Ed Orgeron. He is a terrific hire, and I'm pumped. The talent is there at Duke, and Cutcliffe might just be the guy to nurse that talent to fruition. But that's the way college football goes...every coaching staff will be a victim of their own success.

Has a no. 7 ranked team ever jumped a no. 4 ranked team like this in the Coaches poll? I hate how, since it's the last week of the season, the coaches choose rankings differently than any other week. If it were any other week of the season, I guarantee Georgia would be ranked higher than LSU.

The only way Illinois goes to a BCS bowl game is if Ohio State reaches the championship game. In that event, the Rose Bowl will most likely select the 2nd place Big Ten team, Illinois.

I think it's simply rematches that are forbidden, not sure. Since we never played this year, that doesn't come into play. Three cheers for imbalanced scheduling! I know you're already a big fan of it. :wink: The writer claims that the BCS games who select before the Fiesta are much more likely to pass over Mizzou in favor of more attractive choices. (Example: Rose takes USC and UI to maintain Pac-10/Big-10 politics. Orange takes, I dunno, Georgia and somebody?) The writer thinks the Fiesta will pass on ASU because having the local team will hurt the economy. The writer doesn't mention the Orange or Rose Bowls anywhere in his article. While your scenario might generate the most revenue in terms of selecting the most popular teams, I am still under the belief that the best teams will be in the BCS bowls. As such, Missouri will get selected over Georgia (if for no other reason than to avoid the firestorm should Missouri not be in).
