  1. The Brewers have looked flatter and tireder. However, Cub killer Mike Cameron is coming back, where he'll hit 4 home runs in the series and go 9 for 14 before fizzling out and finishing the season at .257 with 15 HRs, 12 of which will come against The Cubs. He is definitely a white sox killer. look at his lines vs Cubs - 39 games: 8HR 17RBI .244/.344/.504 vs White Sox - 38 games: 10HR 31 RBI .338/.462/.662 btw his career lines are .251/.341/.445 Yeah, though 4 of those HR's were in 1 game.
  2. Barry Zito gave up a triple to Paul Bako. That's right. A Triple! You have to actively exert yourself to do that.
  3. Watching the Angels vs. Tigers on ESPN, I found it absolutely hilarious that Jacque Jones threw the ball right into the ground in the top of the 6th while 2 runs scored.
  4. I believe Baseball Tonight last year had a feature where they presented the top all-time 3 web gems of all 30 teams. That play made the cut for the Cubs. I think it was no. 1.
  5. ...which is exactly why people shouldn't be creating threads entitled "Best Record in Baseball!!" Argh!! Right, whatever. As of this moment, the Cubs have the best record in baseball. Something worth noting. It is not intended to be a predictive commentary, jusy a notation. It was more or less just a joke. I do find it interesting that once again, right after someone posts a thread like this the club starts to falter. I don't put any stock into it, mind you.....but it just seems like it always happens that way. Probably because people tend to post this right on the heels of huge winning streak, when really the only way to go is down. MODS, DELETE THIS THREAD IMMEDIATELY!!
  6. Guess the Brewers aren't dumb enough to send subpar pitchers against us.
  7. I would think that Thomas wants to play everyday as a DH rather than be a pinch hitter once in awhile.
  8. Yes, but Cedeno is better at 2B than Theriot as well.
  9. I don't think the Cubs have homered in this ballpark yet. Let's change that.
  10. Pena is my hero!! This is the same situation as last inning.
  11. Thank god the Nats decide to throw like pregame warmups.
  12. How the hell did Cedeno not score there????
  13. Bad baserunning has to pay off eventually.
  14. Given the importance of the moment, that catch was absolutely ridiculous.
  15. What about last year? He had a significantly lower LD%, but a higher BABIP.
  16. I apologize for not being here tonight. I was out playing some football and, after dining, I got back too late. I did listen to some of it on the radio though.
  17. Thankfully for him the Nationals intentionally walked him in the 8th inning last night. If not for that at-bat, Soto would be 1 strikeout away from matching the major league record for most consecutive strikeouts. Is that record for consecutive ABs or consecutive PAs?
  18. Unfortunately, I remember him far too well from last years July 4th game when he simply dominated us. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/WAS/WAS200707040.shtml Hopefully not that again.
  19. Good thing that we got Z starting to stop this mini-slide.
  20. Sammy wasn't on the team in 05. That was in 04 and it was with the bases loaded that preserved a 1-0 lead.
  21. Just saw Howry's pitch again. It was way up and away. 9 times out of 10, a batter won't even swing at it.
  22. Before tonight, I had no idea who Wil Nieves was.
  23. Anyone doubt that we need Soriano back badly?
