I think that the Pythagorean W-L statistic is overrated. I have yet to see any reason why that "should" be a team's W-L record based on mathematical reasoning. It seems like Bill James thought, "Hey, this random calculation based on the runs a team scores and runs a team allows always comes pretty close to a team's actual W-L record. It must mean something."

The Dodgers, D-Backs, and Padres always give us a headache. If we can get out of this block at or near first place, then I will be a true believer. The reason the D-Backs and the Padres give us a headache is because they have been good the last few years. The D-Backs are still good, but right now the Padres and Dodgers look terrible. I don't think either of them will win 75 games. We should be licking our chops playing those two teams.

Let me just say that I'm not worried about this loss. This is not the NFL. We weren't going to have a perfect season. The focus should be less on individual games and more on consistency of play over the course of the year.

I love how MLB.com says "Maddux in line for 350th win" and right below it shows the Giants tying up the Padres in the 9th. Damn ... if Maddux would have won, this could have been the perfect baseball night.

I agree. Just a question, how close was the game winning run. I'm just curious if Fontenot scored where Soto wouldn't have. Not close ... there were two outs so he was going at the crack of the bat.

No ramirez did that. Would they have IBB'd Fukudome with runners on 1st and 2nd? That was my thought. Of course I was assuming Ramirez would have K'ed.
