  1. Gotta stop trying to hit home runs in this ballpark.
  2. So apparently Arod singling in that AB was a predetermined outcome and would have happened even if Joe Nathan wasn't the one pitching to him and even if he was batting with a base open, 2 outs, and a tie game as opposed to leading off an inning trailing by one. Not to mention that if Jeter had stopped at first, ARod's single wouldn't have driven him in.
  3. Hamilton went yard again ... his 16th.
  4. Woohoo! A hit for the Pirates!
  5. They are playing 2 games above their pythag pace, while we're playing 3 games under, so we got that going for us. How different would we feel if these were the standings: Cubs 39-18 -- Cards 32-26 7.5 What's more incredible is that we are playing 2 games above our pythag and Isringhausen had 6 blown saves. As a Cards fan, how can you find that incredible? Those types of things are par for the course.
  6. I daresay that if we are to win the division, we will need a winning record against the Cardinals.
  7. [x] weak attempt at insult [x] pointless attempt at insult [x] rude attempt at insult [ ] actual rebuttal of the arguments presented in my post Wow you are full of yourself. To be fair, in hindsight, my post had no hint at sarcasm. I should have written it in green.

  9. I think "many" is an overstatement. I projected them to mid-80s when their pythagorean record is 27-30, which shows I expect some improvement. But to get to 90 wins from where they are now, they'd have to play at a .581 winning percentage. Their Pyth% this season is .473, and over the past two seasons is .502. To get to .581 from that, they'd have to take a quantum leap forward. And that's just to get to 90 wins, which right now is on the very bottom end of the Cubs' likely projection. They have two young bats that make people drool, and a couple more that are above average for their position. And they have an ace pitcher who can't stay healthy. Is that enough to lead a team to 90 wins? They don't really have anything else. Their bullpen is bad. Their defense is really bad. They have a few pitching prospects, but big whoop, so does every other team in the majors. Brewers fans I read right now are basing their hopes on two things: The Cubs' turnaround last season and the fact that they lost their No. 2 pitcher and they believe we haven't lost anything. And their high point last season, June 23rd, here was the two teams' run differentials: Brewers: +29, Cubs: +22. The two teams had been almost identical, but a combination of good and bad luck had put them 8.5 games ahead of the Cubs. Luck caught up and the Cubs pulled ahead. This season, the run differentials are Cubs +92, Brewers -14. Did you steal that from John Kruk? That analysis is Baseball Tonight-esque.
  10. I seem to recall him defending Ned Yost adamently.
  11. We might be the only team in history to have the DH bat first.
  12. Those stupid Cubs. They're so dumb, putting together the best team in baseball and winning all the time. Hendry and Lou should be fired. Demoting Pie and signing and playing Edmonds has nothing to do with the Cubs winning. But, if it makes you happy... Edmonds sure had a big role in that comeback against the Rockies ... If you think Edmonds is done, then fine. However, it's foolish to think he didn't have a part in a few Cubs wins.
  13. I can safely say yes. If the Cubs were 52-5, I'd be saying they were the luckiest team ever. Cause no major league baseball team can be that good.
  14. Glendon Rusch Jae-kuk Ryu Kent Mercker
  15. 1, because the only reason Batter B is on base has nothing to do with him. It was purely due to the fact that Batter A was on base ahead of him and the defense chose to get the out at 2nd instead of at 1st.
  16. That is, until the camera cut to her face? Pretty much, but I don't have very high standards. She reminds me of a character from the SNL skit they used to do about a radio station. Cork soakers and Schwety balls?
